On my sheep hunt I had a local smith build me one with 700 action with 26” Brux barrel in 300 win mag. Sheep are not hard to kill. Only reason I chose the 300 was I had a grizz tag which I filled too. A light weight and accurate rifle is needed. A gun you feel comfortable shooting out to 500 yds.

My buddy and used Sitka on are sheep hunts. Worked great! It was either raining or snowing everyday. It was the first week of September in the Alaskan mountain range.

I texted the outfitter and my buddy got a very big ram. Don't know how many inches yet. I know the weather not the best. Can't wait to here his story.

I hunted with Hidden Alaska Guides and outfitters two years ago and harvested a nice Sheep and Grizz. My buddy is hunting there now. Talked to him by sat phone this afternoon. He got a grizz and is on two good sheep. They killed a 43" 41" and a 37" so far. They seen one bigger then the 43"...

I used the J 107 on a sheep hunt in Alaska. It worked fine for me. I packed a sheep out and had no problems.

No more then 10lbs. Lighter the better.

Shot both with 300wm. Sheep are easy to take down. Goats can be tough but the 300 Wm is plenty just use a good bullet. Every ounce you can shave off your gun will help. Trying to carry a heavy gun up and down the mountains will feel dragging a boat anchor.

Asked your doctor about meds to help with elevation sickness. It does help.
