Might be too late, but shop around and wait for sales, can get you that scope for around 600.
I have a gen1 and gen2 I'm using for rimfire target shooting. No complaints, for that usage, and the Gen2 glass is definitely better.
From Nikon:
We wanted to make you aware of a change that will take place regarding Nikon Inc.’s Sport Optics product warranty program. After review, we have decided to make some program adjustments that will require changes to in-store, online and other marketing materials.
PROGRAM CHANGE...
All 5R's have the same H&S stock. Green Gen1, tan on Gen2. It will have a longer fore end section and a palm swell grip, which I and many others do not prefer.
That's the stock I got rid of. The low comb and dropped butt pad rolled worse that a Weatherby style stock for me. But now that I'm older, and hopefully smarter , stopped shooting 150gr charges.
My opinion, it has the same faults as the 450, pushing light handgun bullets too fast with less than desirable on game performance. They will sell a lot of rifles though, maybe I can pick up a cheap 450 when its traded in.
MIL or MOA is the measurement unit, not metric or inches.
So either works as long as turrets and reticle match it shouldn't matter.
My choice MIL/ MIL FFP.
