In my VERY limited experience the flash is a short one time (while he's there) event that will put the deer on guard, but not run it off. Then after a couple times they get used to it. I used on last year and proved useful, because all it saw were does. Hope it helps. good luck.
I like their scopes. The only problem I ran into was that the bullet needs to be almost tailored to the drop of the scope, instead of the other way around. I have one on my .308 for medium range <600 yds and like it. It makes it REALLY easy to range with the reticles. I went head to head...
I wanted to get some tips from the experts... I hunt mainly whitetail and would like to refine my skills and learn more of their habits instead of my bad habits ;-) If you know of some books that give good whitetail background and solid hunting advice please let me know. Thanks in advance.
I have the NF 8x32 NXS. I love the scope the clarity is more important to me than the magnification. I compare the NF to a couple of other top models in low to no light and it beat the tar out of the others. It is hard to beat the NF.

Re: Wife\'s First Hunt
Bob,
That is a great reason to brag! Tell the wife to keep it up, she's got a good teacher. I miss the red dirt down there on your range...I'll be back down soon.

You guys are great! I like hearing input from those more experienced than myself. I completely agree with Darryl,
"the really true way to make a drop chart is to use a program in conjunction with "actual" fire of the rifle at various ranges or yardages."
I will look at both RSI and Oelher...
I have been looking at a couple programs one is Quickload, the other is RSI shooting lab. I am mainly focusing on LR hunting with a couple BR matches here and there. Any recommendations?
btw, First post but I have been reading for a long time. I love this board
