    If you reload, get a 257 Weatherby and you won't be disappointed. 110gr Accubonds, and if you ever do have to stretch a shot to 500 yards plus, it'll do the job.

    Have one, West Germany vintage, gorgeous gun, and also a 270 WBY, same vintage. Both tack drivers yet, in spite of being almost 60 years old. Also an WBY Alaskan Mark 5, 300 WBY. And a 257 WBY. Buy cheap Weatherby ammo, shoot it at paper, then reload however you want it. I guess you could say...

    Help me decide: Minimum caliber for larger NA game

    300 Win Mag will do it all, modest recoil, and with a brake will be easy to shoot. And you can find ammo just about anywhere. I also shoot a 300 Weatherby with a brake, and it recoils like a 243 Win.

    I prefer a pass through, and with a 300 WBY that is usually the case. And seldom do I have to track more than a few feet.
