Watched his videos. Will be doing it this week. I'll be taking pictures as I go for reference. Not nearly as easy as the 336. I'm not positive but I doubt this rifle has ever been taken apart and really cleaned.
I got a Winchester model 94 from an uncle a few years ago and I've always used a bore snake to clean it but it really needs a good cleaning. Has anyone every taken one apart for a good cleaning?
I also have a Marlin model 336 that I really enjoy shooting and it is super simple to take apart...
Leveled and set my scope yesterday, actually did it twice. After I was satisfied with where the scope was set I noticed the front of the rail was about a 1/16" from the bell of the scope so I took it apart and trimmed the rail back a 1/4". I think I got it a bit more plum the second time anyhow...
I'll keep you posted on how it shoots with and without bedding. Just got the rings in the mail today so I'll get the scope nestled on in the morning and take it out for a test drive. Scope is on but haven't leveled or torqued anything yet.
Just got my rifle today so I swapped stocks. The bell and Carlson fits like a glove. From what I've read I suppose I will bed the lug area.
Is there a consensus about the two nodes for the barrel in the stock? Should I leave these alone for now and see how it shoots?
It is. I would love to make it back up there someday to moose hunt but I'm not sure that will ever happen. I moved from there in 2003. Tough place to live without a decent living. Montana is a great place to be. No Dall sheep but lots of other critters to hunt.
New to the site. I ordered a new Rem 700 Sps ss 300 wm, should be here Monday or Tuesday. I just got the b&c stock and tally rail in from red hawk, picked up a vortex hst 4-16, waiting for the rings from LRH. I've spent all my money for the time being but at least I'll be able to shoot it soon...
