I have also moved away from bergers for hunting. I have had a handful of bad experiences with terminal performance on hunts. Trimming the meplat does seem to help them open, but I lost confidence in them a while back.
I have had really good luck with the eld-x. Not all rifles like them but I...
I have had good luck with arken. For a budget type scope it's pretty hard to beat. I don't have the money to put a NF on every rifle I own. On varmint rifles I usually look for a lower cost option that tracks well and the three arken scopes I have seem to do the job well.
I am curious if...
Really just comes down to grizzly density for me. I don't like having part of my critter claimed by a bear. I've really only lost some neck and rib meat to them over the years but it annoys me all the same.
And weather. Pretty hard to keep meet cool with 80 degree days in September.
I've been back and forth from edge to RUM for a while. And I think I have ruled out the Nosler 33 thanks to everybody's input on here. What barrel length do you like?

I agree, but then what would I do with this pile of crap 7mm mag? It will shoot two holes touching then one flyer 4-6 inches away. Then two touching somewhere else. Then another flyer. I thought it was a bad scope but no such luck. Plus a new build and load development gives me something to do.
I have a Remington 700 in 7mm mag. That has never shot well. I want to scrap everything but the action and have something built. I naturally want all of the range and accuracy I can squeeze out of the 700 action.
Initial thoughts are to build a Nosler 33. I am planning on sending it to hart to...
