I didn't read the entire thread but what primers are you using? My ES numbers on all my guns cut in half or better using magnum primers. Second thing is load density. The closer to 100% or more the better. I like compressed loads if I can get them and still use all the powder. You don't...
I would keep the M77. They are not cheap around here. They go for $700+ around here if you can find someone willing to sell one. Shawn & Brady at Straight Shooter Supply have no issues with working on Rugers.
Anyone that "trusts" a trigger and gets hurt or hurts someone else is 100% liable for said accident. It is never ever okay to point a firearm at anything you care about. To trust a trigger means you are okay to point that firearm at your own head and work the action with live ammo. Maybe if...
If it's just for powder it is not worth it at all. I knew a guy that wanted the last .050" throat on a .224" caliber to gain some powder capacity and it added about .01 of a grain of powder.
We do QD mounts on everything possible. The big guns need a brake anyway. You can use either a flash hider or a muzzle brake style. It slick and fast to change when you want to use it on different rifles at the same time. The YHM QD mounts are super nice and well machined.
I believe most of what you get when you go past $3000 to 4500-5000 for a custom or semi custom build is a bunch of blue sky with the builders name on it. Here is one Kirby built for me on an approximate $3000 budget. He could easily get the big money for his name alone but he has remained...
As rusty as that can is it was certainly not stored in an acceptable place. I have a bunch of cans that look like that but the metal is all still bright and shiny. The powder is as good as if it was bought today.
They are worth what you pay for them. The threads are notoriously out of alignment with the outside of the brake. You often have to remachine every surface on them to make them look right. For a couple more bucks you can get a CSR side discharge brake.
I have only had a few full customs and a mess of semi customs. I have a 338 Ultra Max (Edge improved) with about 100 rounds through it for sale over on 24 hour campfire built by Kirby Allen. It has fired 3 shot groups under an inch at 500 yards. That rifle was built a couple years ago on an...
I have had great luck with both 300 SMK and Berger OTM's on deer and elk. For hogs I would try 250 grain Accubonds. They seem to work/expand on most everything from point blank on out.
