    Headspace Woes

Sure. Im asking about drastic inconsistencies, though. Look at it the other way around. Say you have a load worked up that’s shooting, say, single digit ES and 1/2moa with your 3x fired brass. Then you get a batch of new brass with the same headstamp. You load it with the same...

    Headspace Woes

This is interesting stuff. answers: -28nos -once-fired Peterson brass -using the Lyman case lube kit. Question: Understood that over-working brass isn’t great for its lifespan. Will my batch of brass bumped back to a range of .004 to .006 give me a wildly huge ES, though? (within the batch...

    Headspace Woes

Ah, that may be the culprit. I definitely wasn’t being sparing with the lube. No expander ball, have the decapping pin rod installed that doesn’t have the ball. So just using the bushing to size. It’s what the Eric cortina video said to do 😁

Once fired. Should have mentioned that.

    Headspace Woes

trying out my type s dies for the first time (newbie to hand loading). I’m having a terrible time getting my headspace right. Set everything up per Eric cortina’s YouTube video. Got my die worked in with a nice .002 bump. Tested out my brass in the rifle with a piece of tape to confirm, etc...

    7mm Elk Bullets- Berger Alternates

The poor experiences were with SST's at 300 to 400 yards. Even at 2000fps, you'd find fragments a foot away from the entry point, lots of mess inside, and no exit. Perhaps Berger’s are less dramatic. It may not be fair to put bergers and SST’s in the same basket just because they claim to create...

This is being conserving with velocity. Likely I'd be about 200fps faster, so a little better SG. Monos are another story..

    7mm Elk Bullets- Berger Alternates

Thanks all. Lots of good info here. At the end of the day, I'll shoot whatever my rifle likes. With that said, I like a bullet that consistently passes through with a boring golf ball size exit wound. I'm new to elk hunting, but my experience using .243 on deer (which is probably proportional...

That link just goes to the category. Can you send the link to the thread?

    7mm Elk Bullets- Berger Alternates

Interesting. Mono’s for long distance? It seems like ABLR’s and ELD-X are optimal from a trade off of performance standpoint, but I was wondering if something better is out there 7-800 yards max. 1:8.5 twist.

    7mm Elk Bullets- Berger Alternates

Looking for all the berger traits( quality, heavier (175-195 range), higher BC) but not bergers. I just can’t get over “2-3 inch penetration, then rapid expansion”. I’m looking for something that keeps most of its weight. Only thing I know of for long-range is ABLR’s, but I’m becoming less than...
