I want to thank all who gave me directions and opinions in this thread. I am back from the hunt and my son and I bagged a nice 4-5 year old bull. The load I found to be most accurate is 43 grains of TAC with the Barnes TTSX . While I will agree the bullet weight is not the best choice for a .308...

I am like you. I have two sons who hunted since they were 10 years old in Maine and then our home state Pa when they were12. Today the youngest is 40. One hunts and the other does not. I purchased them .243 mark 4 Rugers. Still have them and now my grandson uses one of them. With a leupold...

I tried TAC powder yesterday. I used new brass and loaded just under max 43.3 is max I loaded 43 and it worked great!!! Bullseye at 200 yards. Some of the inconsistency is me. But at 100 yards I was able to place two shots touching each other. Another thing I did was read what you said about...

I just want to thank everyone who replied for all the knowledge. I am new to reloading for true accurate shots. So I am taking all the recommended stuff I am learning and will try them out. Thanks Randy

I have the same problem the 180 grain Barnes kick bad. After two to three shots I pull them all I can think about is the pain to come. Lol

TTSX is the one with the blue tip. I did not go to max on the load. I noticed TAC is listed as most accurate and that is why I thought I would try it. Bullets weight is what I think is the problem. But I am a novice and don’t know a lot on ballistics

As far as the caliber of the gun I like my .308. Lots less recoil which in my case means more accurate. I have always believed it is the accuracy of the shot not the caliber that gets game. But unfortunately I do miss too. Lol

I have a 30-06 rem 3600 pump but the Tikka is way more of a tack driver. My son is taking me on the hunt

I like the 150 Nosler Balistic tips. They are extremely accurate in the load I use and do a great job of exploding in the whitetails I have harvested. I can’t see why that bullet would not be suitable for a moose
