Hodgdon site is pretty sparse with 7 SAUM data.

I've recently tried Staball 6.5 57.8 grs and 175 ELDX. 2950fps+- from 24" CT Rival, but only at 100 yards so far. 1/2 inch groups.

They probably went with a Diversity hire for the project!!??

I got my factory chambered CT Rival 7 SAUM from a Dealer in Quesnel, BC last year...probably the same place you got yours from...a great rifle!

Standard SAAMI more than likely? I'm doing a similar build Nitride AntiX, Manners PH, 26"HCA ...I haven't decided on which 7PRC reamer yet.

What reamer did your smith use?

congrats on the deer! I like the idea of a 7 Creedmoor more than the 6.5 CM as a hunting round, better bullet choices IMO. :)

Ok, wife and I just finished up a Northern BC Mule deer hunt...2 4x4 mature bucks down, both shot in thick brush, both with ELD-X's (175 and 178) both dropped instantly, no need to track or search for blood trails. One at 35 yards and one at 70 yards. Last year was the same results with 2 Bull...

My bull was just under 200 yards broadside, 175ELD-x from a CT Rival in 7SAUM @2885fps muzzle and wife's bull was about 80 yards, complete frontal shot, 178 ELD-X from Vanguard II 308win. @2650fps muzzle. My bull dropped on the spot, hers ran 20 yards and piled up.

I don't have the Backcountry but I do have 3 Montanas (280AI, 300wm,and6.5 CM) and a 7-08 Mountain Ascent. I really like the Kimbers, one of the very few rifles where I "DON'T" feel the need to change something.

My wife and I each used ELD-X bullets on Moose last year...one shot each, 2 dead Bulls.

At 500 yds with a 7-08 my choice would be the 150 eldx and I'd have no issues with extending that to 600yds. Just my personal observation, I'd be more concerned with adequate expansion at 500 yds then penetration. All bullets are a compromise.
