Im sorry that must have come across wrong. I meant 3 grand just the rifle alone. Not including the optic. I expect to spend 1000-1500 on the optic.

I see a lot of nice coopers for sale in the mid 3's on gunsamerica. It seems like the coopers are the best prices for the quality you are getting.

I guess I should have specified my budget. I was going to try to not spend over 3 grand on the rifle so I could get a nice scope for it.

I have looked into a ruger no 1. Great rifle for sure but im looking for a repeater. I will definitely give him a pm and will keep him in mind as one of my options. Thanks

I have found a very good smith (Stewart rifles, recommended by surgeon themselves). I have decided on a surgeon action and bottom metal, Krieger barrel, McMillan a3 adjustable stock, Jewell trigger, and maybe the new night force atacr or beast. Thank you all very much for your help

Are the surgeon actions smooth compared to other actions? I haven't really been able to find any info

I guess a custom action is definitely the way to go then. Been doing some research on BAT tactical action, surgeon, and precision engineering. What's the best? Jewel trigger for sure. McMillan stock. And all the barrels seem like they are about the same. Probly going with a 300wm.

Hello all. I am wanting to do a long range rifle build capable of 1000+ yards. Was thinking a remington 700 action would be a good choice to customize. What do you guys recommend for the best barrel, stock, bolt, scope, trigger, etc. I'll be of course getting the action trued and everything done...

Looks like the xcr 2 is the only option. Surprisingly I do not re load so I just buy factory ammo. I usually test a lot of different kinds to see which is the most accurate in that particular gun.
