What do you use to clean primer pockets?

I use stainless steel pins, a bit of lemishine, couple of drops of dawn liquid detergent, some water and about four hours rotating in a drum case polisher. My homemade system rotates at 36 to38 revolutions/ minute. It cleans the brass like New or better and the best clean of primer pockets I...

    25-06 vs 257 wby

I go with the .257 Wby. Mine shoots both 110 Interbond and 110 Accubond well. Buy good brass and get many reloads and the brass question is immaterial.

What is better than the Weatherby?

Everyone to their own liking. I purchased a .300 WBY Mag. because I am 73 years old and wanted a 74 year old cartridge that can do almost as good as the newbies and has been proven. Once more it shoots great and the bullet selection for reloading have been proven. The Weatherby line of...

    Bought a .270 Today

You have made an exceptional choice. I have owned a .270 Win for 40 years and you can't go wrong with a 140 grain bullet for almost everything

Tell Me About the 300 WBY

I have a WBY. Mark V UltraLight in .300 Wby. Mag. I installed a radial Dave Holland muzzle brake ported radial on sides and vertical on top. Excellent shooter with 200 gr. ELD'S AND 180 Accubond. Most groups in the 1/2 to 3/4" groups at 100 yards. It has a 26" barrel and scoped Swarovski 3...

Muzzle Break for .300 Win Mag

I have Dave Holland brake with no bottom ports on a Wby Ultralite in .300 Wby. Mag. Recoil is like a .270 Win. with very little muzzle jump. Ear protection needed for sure.

    Which three must have calibers.

I am assuming that you do already have a .22 caliber rim fire. Then I would opt for a .243 Win., .270 Win. and a .300 Wby. Mag. This all I need for coyotes, deer size game, and the bigger stuff like elk and moose in central Alberta. We have so many ground squirrels and other pests that need a...

    Muzzle break

My .300 Wby Mag UltraLite shoots like a.270 Win. with a Dave Holland side and top port brake. The tamed recoil and muzzle jump makes it a joy to shoot. I believe that brake tames recoil by about 55 to 57%.

    Thanks Mike AVM!

    SHERMANS AND RL23

Mike AVM Can you give me the load data for your .270 using RL 23. I have been using RL 22 at 58.5 grains behind 140 Hornady SST. I use Fed. 215 primer seated about .20 from lands. It is temperature sensitive so I have been wondering if RL 23 is worth the purchase?

    Recoil, what recoil?

I can't agree with you more Coyotemaster. In my previous entry, I believe it was # 79 or # 80 I made reference to using a muzzle brake and recoil pad on a 300 WBY Ultralight to make it a pleasure to use. I also use the best hearing protection you can buy to help with the muzzle blast!

    Recoil, what recoil?

You can call me a sissy, but at 72 years young and a WBY Mark V Ultra Light in 300 WBY Mag. I need a brake and a recoil pad. With both this light weight rifle is a pleasure to shoot. No bruises on my eye or shoulder and no flinches! Every one to there own but I enjoy shooting not bragging...

    Why not a 300 wby?

I purchased a WBY Mark V Ultralight in 300 WBY Mag in 2014. it shot very well with factory ammo however the recoil was something else and the muzzle jump extreme. Put a Holland muzzle brake on it, reloaded with 180 Accubonds, IMR 7828 and Federal 215 primers and it shoots 1/2" groups at 100...

    30-06 Load Development

I agree with the above quote. Get a Hornady or other reloading manual and read and study the first section on how to get started. Then find another avid Reloader that knows what he/she is doing and use them as mentor. There is so much to learn about powder, primers and bullets let alone...
