My Kimber Montana shoots sub MOA with the 180gn TTSX over 65.4gn of H4350 right at 3000fps with the Fed GM215 primers.

I drew a bull tag in 04, went the DYI route even though I live 120 miles one way from the elk range. 5 weeks of scouting resulted in a 407" 7x7 with 56" main beams and 51" wide. I understand that you have to play to win, Among my family of 5 we have roughly 61-65 ish pints for the drawing...

Have hunted the Salmon zone long before it was called the Salmon zone. I have heard several bulls talking over the years in Mid Oct. But very few and they are most of the time half hearted bugles. The mature bulls will be away from the cows, only the spikes and smaller rag horns will be near...

I hunt Idaho as a non resident and have since 1983. There are elk, but also wolves and other hunters. Do some home work and plan according, and be in shape. Remember once you get an elk on the ground the work begins. In my years of hunting elk, I can only remember one or two easy pack jobs.

I drew a Bull tag in 04 unit 9, which was approx. 150sq miles. Living 120 miles one way from the elk range, made it tough. I hunted without a guide and on was able to kill a 12 year old 7x7. He has 56" main beams, is 51" wide and scored 407. Not an easy hunt, but no way an Idaho hunt either...

I have two 300WMS Montana's both like h4350 and the 180 TTSX. Have killed 3 Idaho Bull elk with the one gun. Not sure of the COL but it took very little messing around to get them both to shoot sub moa groups, and the FPS is right around 3000. Using Norma brass and the Federal GM215 primers.

Sounds just like Idaho. Every year more and more hunters.

My 12ga dedicated turkey guns have not hunted for the past 5 years. 20ga and TSS has changed the way I think. No longer hauling a heavy 12ga around, my 20 and TSS has killed out to 49 yds.

Nice work, did you shoot him in the neck? Been hunting elk for almost 30 years this being my first time archery hunting them. What a thrill to have them screaming in your face. My elk rifles will never get used again...

Just a FYI for the guys hunting near Salmon. Three years ago we took two elk to Pete's Meats In Salmon. The weather was warm and we did not want to butcher ourselves. When we returned to pick the meat up, we were told they could not find it. We spent several hours there and things got heated ...
