I think the whole mindset of scent control should be to minimize your scent the best you can. Playing the wind is your best bet but it also can change suddenly and then what? lol, I as well shower clean with unscented soap, wash clothes in fragrance free detergents, but at the end of the day I...
Congrats on the on the land purchase. A lil control burn goes a long way. Mowing with a rotary cutter will help open up some areas. Plenty of guys on the land clearing side are all over. And as far as prevailing wind…. ⬅️⬆️⬇️➡️↙️↖️↗️↘️. We’re not as fortunate as our friends in the Midwest and...
Mine is an 1984 model Remington 700 in 270 Winchester…. Given to me by my dad when I was about 10-12 years old. I’ve killed countless deer with it and it’s as accurate as anything I own. Best feeling rifle I’ve ever put my hands on and it’s what I judge everything by. Only upgrades is a lil...
I own hunting clothes made by Scent Lok but it’s more for the quality of clothes than any so called ability to cover your scent which I think is impossible…. Think about it, everyone has to breathe and when you inhale/exhale you are constantly releasing scent. The wind is your best bet. Now I’ve...
AR-15 with optic, Glock on my side next to my k bar and shotgun slung on my back until needed. And banded together with those I love and trust. No one is winning anything on there on long term. Keep a close eye on what you can and pray God has mercy. Hopefully people have enough sense to change...
I’ve only shot a couple carbon bows. And my experience is very limited. I’ve shot a PSE carbon air that was a nice bow and seemed fast. And the other was a Hoyt carbon spyder. The Hoyt was a sweet bow as well. I personally haven’t been able to justify the weight difference between a carbon bow...
I find using a strutting decoy with a couple hen decoys really brings them in. I think I got lucky with this one bring I didn’t have my decoys. Been a weird season for me. Haven’t heard a lot of gobbling but I’ve seen quite a few birds. And tagged out quick. Hard to complain about that.
Got my 2nd bird and am now tagged out. Was a good hunt, even in the rain. 30 yds shot. Had to step on his head a lil once I ran up to him. Called him across a fresh cutdown with 5 hens tagging along.

The ones I’m speaking of that I’m called to bring in a dog to help recover are animals not being chased but rather mostly shot from a stand. Marginal hits in my experience usually mean it will not stay where it was hit, but will most certainly try and run and will then lay up in a place where it...
This subject can be all over place and opinions equally as well. Ultimately a good vital shot will be the best starting point for anything regardless of energy. Archery does kill with a lot less energy but big rifle energy not vitally placed doesn’t guarantee a recoverable animal. An animals...
