    Help with 30-378 load

I ran in problems with this cartridge. Thought I had it good with 225 eldm’s at 200, went back to 650, and the gun shot all over the place. Decided to start over and checked many bullets and found I could get a 208 eldm .020 off and still fit in the mag box. They shot great. I am using retumbo...

    240 WBY 105g HPBTs

I have been shooting the 105 bthp’s in a 6 creedmor. Mine like being .030 OL. I understand I’m going slower 3060 FPS, and a 8 twist. The 108 eldm wanted to be closer about .020 OL.

    leupold 4.5-14 elevation

At this point in my shooting have not killed or practiced past 500 yards, however would like to work towards greater distances. In the leupold 4.5-14 the elevation is 71 minutes of angle vs. 116 in the same scope with a 30mm tube. I shoot a 30-378. At what distance am I maxed with the 25.4...

    264 win mag opinions

I am considering buying a older winchester model 70 in 264 win mag. What barrel lengths make this caliber work well? I guess worse case I can use the action for something else. Any opinions on the gun and caliber?

    30-378 200 grain load suggestions

Looking for some loads in 200 grain 30-378. Currently shooting a 180 grain accubond. I am happy with my accuracy, but want to try shooting a 200 grain bullet to maximize the potential of the caliber as well as higher bc's. Any suggestions would be helpful. Thanks.

    225 Accubond vs Elk Report

Here is my info. I just shot a blacktail buck on Monday with a 180 grain accubond in a 30-378. Ended up being a 295 yard shot. I found the bullet in the right front shoulder. It did go through the backbone first, however it made a hole that I might have been able to put my fist in. This in now...

Zeiss 85mm vs Swarovski 80HD or Leica 77AP

Swarovski, Only have an opinion on one of your choices. I borrowed a Swarovski 80hd last year from a friend for our elk trip. We spotted two bulls eight miles away. When we finally got to them they were 400 yards from the power pole I saw them bed down next to. Before the use I did not...

    new and trying to build

I am new to this site as well, however I have gone through some rifles for general hunting. Also I will state that I am not a long range hunter, and mentioned in a different post that I have only shot animals to 400 yards. With all that said I do have an opinion on this subject. You are...

    Scope magnification

Let me make sure I know what is being said. If I have a duplex reticle magnification will not change point of impact because the duplex is center of the reticle. It seems as though having a fine duplex reticle might be a good with target turrets. This will teach me to use clicks for greater...

    Scope magnification

Sorry for my lack of knowledge on powers. However an earlier post says the scope will only be accurate on the highest setting. As powers increase will point of impact change with higher powers. If I bought a 6.5 - 20 and I used the scope in a hunting application on 10 power would the point of...

    Scope magnification

Thanks for the help. I have always just been a hunter and never shoot an animal over 400 yards. Reading about things here on this site has sparked an interest in greater yardage. Thanks again, and I look forward to reading and learning more about the longer ranges.
