I have killed plenty of elk with .277 140 grain anc .308 180 grain accubonds . 270 win and 300 ultra mag. Both did just fine and killed them plenty dead. I think the 270 140 does better as lower velocities. Wouldn’t hesitate to launch one into the ribs of a big bull at any reasonable distance,

If you are going into 17, you better have a plan. That is not beginner elk country. Just getting to the unit is an adventure, let alone hunting it.

Very nice. Could you show how you bed a stock that is on a switch barrel set up. If it is any different? Some bed the first inch or more of the barrel. Assume you can’t do this on a switch.
