I have a tikka 223 with a proof barrel and manners stock. It is easily my favorite rifle to shoot. Shoots 1/4” 5 shot groups with factory Norma Match 77 gr. I’d def go 223.

Definitely consider a tikka. You have the option to swap barrels/bolt stops and have a short or long action caliber setup. You could even buy an extra bolt and have further versatility. Not to mention they are shooters for sure with plenty of aftermarket.

Had a 308 that shot amazing. Regret selling it. Loved the “brake” at the end. It was easily one of the mildest shooting 308s I ever had. I’ve always wanted to snag another one but have become a sucker for tikkas.

I hear all of your concerns. Being a Texas boy, I see the lack of outdoorsmanship due to social media. There is no such thing as herd management. Everyone shoots anything with horns. This problem is not isolated to Idaho, it’s just enhanced due to rate of change. I feel for y’all.

Same here. I love Texas, but I’ve become accustomed to colder climates. I lived in Wyoming for 6 years and hated it for the first year. After that I never wanted to leave. I’ve been dying to get back to the mountains ever since. I’ve been looking for land around the Lewiston area. Not too close...

I hope to be able to have a place in Idaho. My wife is from Lewiston and from then places we’ve been to around the state, I definitely want a to live there. Only downside is it’s so **** expensive.
