Anneal, load with inexpensive bullet with crimp groove, seated long about .015 into lands, crimp into the groove in a separate operation, use a relatively mild powder charge. Good to go.

Wouldn't an Encore platform give you a 23" barrel length for about the same rifle OAL as a bolt with and 18" barrel? Only takes about 1 second more to rechamber another round in an Encore as opposed to a bolt repeater.

My bet is on an incorrectly set SEATING die. If the body of the die is too low, it will hit the mouth of the case which will bulge the SHOULDER/BODY junction. This will keep your round from chambering. Quite a common reloaders mistake really.

You mentioned that you used once fired brass. It is possible that the brass was originally fired in a chamber that was slightly bigger than your current one. I assume you fl resized the brass. This will allow it to chamber but the brass springback will still make the brass tight if the size...
