I am a new and first time owner of a .300WM. I read a lot about heavy bullets working best, but how light is too light? I bought some 180gr SST Hornaday's. Is this too light for the long range shooting? They were about $40.00 and I hate to wasted then on targets.
Shooting a bolt gun, it should not be a problem to quickly change loads. If your loaded with 200 grains for a 600 yard shot and find a 100 yard opportunity, take it out and stick in a 168 or 180 gr or what ever. I hunt with both .300 WM and .308 and this how I do it. 50 yards or 1000 yards...
