First outing with the Savage 110FCP 338Lapua

Took 10 minuets, yep, drill the stock. The key is to drill it from each side and meet in the middle. That cheek rest was one the the best things I have done, cant imagine shooting that gun with out it now. The 8-32x56 is great for 1000 yard comps but has a limited elevation range needed for...

First outing with the Savage 110FCP 338Lapua

^ I cant recall that far back now, but I have well over 500 rounds though it and maybe as many as 800. After a typical day out in the desert Ill put though 30 to 40 down range. I sure does leave some copper behind and I swap between KG12 and Butches to clean it. Ive used Sweets in the past...

First outing with the Savage 110FCP 338Lapua

I lost track of how many rounds I've put through mine. More then 600, maybe 800? I have measured considerable throat erosion and have to adjust the seating depth each time I load new rounds. Base to Ogive is now 2.850" for .015" off the lands. Ive also found it is easy to over pressure the...

Hello everyone, new to long range shooting

I just enjoy shooting and long range is something I have never done before. I do hunt but all of my hunting to date has been with hand guns. Hog taken with my Gary Reeder custom 44 Mag Ruger Bisley Hunter, 300gr Hornady XTP @ 1300 fps. The hog nestled down in the tall dead corn stalk and I...

Hello everyone, new to long range shooting

And just two weeks ago, Took a buddy of mine from Phoenix out to Barstow. Set up my 3'x 3' steel at 1802 yards. Temp was in the mid 90's breezy winds 10-15mph. Had a hell of a time getting on target at first. Where we had placed the steel we could not spot the misses. To much brush and...

Hello everyone, new to long range shooting

^ Wow, this was the very first post I had made here. Here is an updated photo of the Savage, only thing not shown in this photo, I replaced the bolt handle with a 110BA part. Also, since then I have a few 1 mile + outings with it, Went out to the high desert near Barstow with a two...

First 1000+ yard hits with my Savage 110FCP 338 Lapua

Yes. You must call and specify the 8-40 screws, tell them It's for a 110BA.

First 1000+ yard hits with my Savage 110FCP 338 Lapua

Yes and no. The round top action is the same but the 110fcp uses larger base screws, #8-40 (#6-40 is standard). You wound need to have your base enlarged for the bigger screws.

    Redding Instant Indicator video

I wasn't sure how useful it would be so I held off ordering one. Now I have one and I love it! Made a quick video this morning showing how fast and easy it is to use. Im not that great at making videos. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rd0o7lMYxAM

First 1000+ yard hits with my Savage 110FCP 338 Lapua

1.4 Mils comes out to a ~48" drift at 945 yards. Your way is way too confusing for me :D

First 1000+ yard hits with my Savage 110FCP 338 Lapua

IIRC 1.4 Mils Right. For the 5 shot group the wind was at about 160deg from me. The 1220 yard shot the wind was more behind us, close to 170deg so I dialed in .8 Mils Right.

First 1000+ yard hits with my Savage 110FCP 338 Lapua

I've played with both the Scenar and SMK's. In general, the Scenars seem to fly better for me and are less sensitive to jump. Have not tried the Berger OTM's yet.

First 1000+ yard hits with my Savage 110FCP 338 Lapua

The recoil is not bad at all, but Im a long time big bore hand gun guy. Friends of mine who have shot it say its not bad. Its got a push to it, not a sharp recoil.

First 1000+ yard hits with my Savage 110FCP 338 Lapua

So Monday I picked up a 1/2" 3'x3' steel plate (all 190lbs of it) and made a stand for it with $25 at Lowes. Went out to the 395 about 5 miles north of Boron CA to some BLM land. The wind was crazy, 25 mph steady with 35 mph gusts, it was enough to shake the truck. We where able to put the...

    Gunwerks G7 BR2 Rangefinder Review

I think you have to guesstimate. If the wind is say 9mph but coming in at a 45deg angle then you would enter 5mph wind.
