Texas Speed bump, It sounds like you have an interesting firearm there. While I agree 100% with the things that Hugnot has shared regarding the Mauser, I'll just add this. I've collected Mausers since 1967 and they are indeed interesting pieces of history. They were far above our bolt actions...
Well, EXCUSE ME for you having a bad day! I 'assumed' that this was a site where everyone could come and share info for the purpose of helping one another. But since I don't live up to your 'standards' of expectation (after giving 8 years of my *** to Uncle Sam with combat under my belt) I will...
SealT5, Thank You Sir for the offer. After the busyness of the holidays settles, I'll double-check the size and threads of my current scope. Many folks don't like the sunshades, but I was gifted one will in Nam in 70-71 and IMO it made a difference! Once again Thank You (Merry Christmas!)...
All nice rifles! What scope sunshade are you using on that Rem 700 (in that second picture?) I've been having trouble finding these anywhere? The one I still have is 5" long and has a 2" O.D. It fit my old scope but not my current one. Thanks
What is the twist rate of your barrel? Different twist rates will handle ammo slightly differently. My Colt 20" barrel has a 1:7 twist and although it shoots the light 55 gr rounds well, it performs much better with the heavier 68 gr rounds. Good Luck
Dave, from the photos, that looks to me to be a Bear Grizzly. My guess would be an early 80's model, and from tip to tip approx 58" in length. It looks well taken care of! I still have a Bear recurve magnesium take-down from those early days. (Great for carp fishing!)
I totally agree with Chase723. I guess if you're intended use of a silencer/suppressor is to not get caught by the game warder, or the land owner that doesn't know you're on his property, then I guess they make some sense. I've heard others say that it helps not to spook other game in the area...
I have a Sightron 3-9x40md that I've had for years that is now mounted on my 20" Colt CR6700A4. It's NEVER let me down in any situation. My last 3 shots with it were at a range of just over 30 yards at an LEO Officer Down call on 01Jan10. At that range, I could see the perps chest movements as...
