    input wanted!!!

At this point I can't afford to reload so having a gun chambered for a wildcat caliber is kinda out of the picture. That was also the problem with the 257, factory ammo runs $70 a box. Once I finish college I plan on starting to reload as everyone tells me after the initial cost of setting up...

Thanks for the input guys. I'm just gonna get the sendero in 7mm rem mag. Figure that's a pretty safe bet. Ill probably get a muzzle brake just so I'll shoot better. Will I still need to pillar bed the stock since its a HS Precision? That along with a jewell trigger and zeiss scope and hopefully...

I feel like a 300 wm would just be overkill for the whitetails here in sc. And in my case I'm not sure if I'd benefit any with the 300 vs the 7mm mag

I'm not real sensitive, just don't want 300 mag recoil. I'm definitely not opposed to a muzzle break either. If I'm gonna get a break anyways should I go ahead and get a 300 win mag?

So I've come across a dilemma guys, I got to thinking about stuff and I'm kinda thinking about a Remington 700 Sendero SF II in 7mm Rem mag. With the 257 weatherby I wanted to get another stock and all that. The sendero comes with the HS Precision stock. I'd actually save money by going with it...

300 win mag vs. 300 RUM

As far as versatility which round would y'all suggest? It would be used for deer hunting in SC and long range shooting at distances of 600-800 yards. I was thinking 7mm RUM but not sure as I thought .30 caliber was better at long ranges. Any input? Thanks David

    Leupold vs. Zeiss.

Thanks for the advice guys. I was pretty set on Leupold and then I heard some bad reviews on them. The Zeiss is only $150-$200 more and I've heard their glass is far superior to Leupold. I'd planned on going to bass pro just to look through them but until then I wanted yalls opinion on it. I...

    How much accuracy is needed?

I definitely agree with y'all that more accuracy is better and on the unethical part. The only reason I asked is I've met people who put more emphasis on accuracy than practice. I feel that it's better to have a rifle that shoots 1 MOA and the guy behind the trigger shoots a lot and feels...

And if I posted this in the wrong section I apologize.

    How much accuracy is needed?

Hey everyone. I have a question I've been pondering for a while. How accurate is accurate enough? I know the more accurate the better but realistically, how accurate should a rifle be to shoot say, 600-800 yards? Not trying to make anyone angry with this post either. Is .75-1.0 MOA accurate...

Hey everybody. Just wanted to drop a line with a little info about myself. I'm 22 years old and live in Beaufort, SC. I've been hunting and shooting since I was 6 years old and have been hooked ever since. I've been wanting to get into longe range shooting for a while but between working full...

    Leupold vs. Zeiss.

I'm currently debating which scope to get. The first would be a Leupold Mark 4 ER/T 4.5-14x40. The other scope is a Zeiss Conquest 4.5-14x44. The scope I choose will be mounted on a Remington 700 CDL-SF chambered in 257 Weatherby Mag used for hunting whitetails in South Carolina and south...

    input wanted!!!

Thanks for all the replies! I definitely should've joined sooner! Also what would y'all say is the maximum range for the 257 weatherby? Our deer down here are usually on the small side. I know they say 900 ft-lbs is needed to kill a deer but I'd think when you get past 500 yards the caliber...

Thanks for all the info Grit. Where would I find the info on the classes and video?

My only concern with that type of scope is making in field adjustments. Does it become second nature once you shoot them a while? I know practice is the only way to truly prepare. Until recently I didn't feel they were practical for hunting.
