    17hmr with 20gr. xtp

I have been using the 20 grain XTP's in my 17HMR also, but I haven't had a chance to zap anything with them. Luckily for me they shoot the best in my gun, wahoo!!!! They did seem to destroy trees much better than the 17's....now granted the 17 is like a grenage on a small animal like a...

Are VxIII's suitible for long range?

Re: Are VxIII\'s suitible for long range? Boy u guys are lucky. We have probably 25+ variX - III's in my family, and none of them adjust worth dog doodoo.....My dads Tasco World Class adjusts and tracks better than they do, even though the glass is almost worthless....

    Differences in reloading data?

[ QUOTE ] I didnt have a problem being friends the first go round. Yes I did miss-read scarcest and I do appologize for miss-reading that and "correcting" you. Thank you for pointing that out to me. Again, my humble appology. [/ QUOTE ] Thats alright, I understand the misinterpretation, no...

    Differences in reloading data?

Just to clarify I think factory ammo can be great and I like to have a box laying around that I know shoots good in my rifle just in case I need it, when I am out and I forget/runout of ammo....

    Differences in reloading data?

[ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] I think the people like your dad, are the scarcest of all. Being people who shoot a lot that buy factory ammo [/ QUOTE ] What the he?? is wrong with someone who shoots alot and also uses factory ammo?? So a guy gets good resuls from factory ammo and doesnt want to to...

    338 winmag or Lapua?

I agree with Kirby on this 100% and I am a .338 win mag fan. To me the .338 case is probably ideal with a 225 grain slug, and to me the .338wm in a carry rifle with a 225 grain bullet is about the best light carry 600 yard elk gun you can get....But for longer range there is much better.

[ QUOTE ] DontKickDontKill, Savage at one time offered the 300 RUM in the M111 receivers. Would work great for the 7mm RUM. They are pretty short in length for the 338 Edge with long range bullets. I believe they have since been dropped from the line. Kirby Allen(50) [/ QUOTE ] Thats...

    Differences in reloading data?

Colby, since catshooter thinks I am crazy, I will only say one thing. I think the people like your dad, are the scarcest of all. Being people who shoot a lot that buy factory ammo (except the people who buy milsurp - they shoot a lot but milsurp is almost as cheap as you can roll your own)...

    Differences in reloading data?

[ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] ... The hypocrisy I was talking about, was about how hot the factory loads are that I have shot recently. Because its usually the manufacturer listing mild loads, and then saying handloads can't get the velocity of factory loads.....There right because they have thrown...

[ QUOTE ] It would be amazing in the 7mm RUM with heavier bullets, +175 gr would be best in my opinion but it will also work well in the 160 gr class. It is a ball powder and as such it is sensitive to temp changes. Some do not like this but I feel the positive characteristics of this powder...

    Differences in reloading data?

[ QUOTE ] I wouldnt say that reloading data is worthless. If you are using a factory rifle or a TRUE sammi spec custom rifle, then loading data is a darn good place to start. If you are using a super tight tolerance chamber and or a tight neck, then yes, reloading data is of less value however...

    Differences in reloading data?

Yeah CatShooter, I agree about the ammo. I would tend to think that a guy who buys factory is gonna buy factory and not reload no matter what is available to the relaoder and vice versa. I would say there may be a 10% margin in those that would switch sides no matter is available. The...

    Differences in reloading data?

[ QUOTE ] Well first of all, factory manufacturers of ammo hace access to new powders that we do not. The biggest advantage to handloading is tailoring the load to your rifle, not having to tune your rifle to factory ammo. Its cheaper too. My 300 SAUM Sendero is a prime example. I get 34xx...

    Differences in reloading data?

[ QUOTE ] I too have noticed the factor loads are stiff. I was shooting 160 accubonds reloads and tried some 160 federal supreme. Difference of 4.5 MOA at 100 yards in elevation. I must say the federals had a much stiffer recoil! Do most reload over Max listed? [/ QUOTE ] Depends on where...

Speaking of WC872, just how temp sensitive is it? I was thinking about getting a 7mm Ultra Mag, and thought about this powder with the heavier bullets.
