    Savage 300 RUM build

I finally got out and shot the RUM today. All I can say about this rifle is wow!! It took a few shots to get her to settle in and then she really tighten the groups up. I took my dad with me so he could help spot shots. We decided to have a shoot off and wouldn't you know it, the old man still...

I forgot to ask, do you currently have a rifle that is setup for long range hunting? What equipment do you have? I can honestly say since I have taken up the sport I have had more opportunities at game and it has made me a better hunter. Just warning though, it is a very addictive sport. Kevin

1480 yd bull throgh the spotters eyes

That is a great comparison. The whole time on that trip I told him we were never going to see an elk with that ridiculous handle bar mustache. Guess he proved other wise. Next time I see him I will call him the dragon slayer!! HA

    Long Range Rendevoux-----PHOTOS ADDED---SEE POST#72 for details

Re: Long Range Rendevous----thoughts? I talked to the shooters in my group and they think it would be a fun trip. So count three more guys to the list. I don't live that far away from Carey so if you need any help one weekend let me know. I hope this goes through. What an opportunity for like...

    .338 calibers

Go with the 338 Edge. Cheap good brass(Remington) and easy to find. Just neck up the 300 RUM, load and shoot. The 338 AM is an awsome cartridge and if you have ever dreamed of killing an animal at or beyond 1 MILE...that would be the cartridge to choose.

1480 yd bull throgh the spotters eyes

The father and son had no intentions of putting a tag on the bull. They were just going to cut and hang the meat on the ridge. They did not push the bull down to us. They were following the tracks from the bottom. They in no way thought we had stolen their elk, they thought somebody on top of...

We all use Eblerstock packs. That particular pack is one from their tactical line I believe. Eblerstock is the only way to go IMO. Plus they are made in Boise, Idaho(which is where I'm from) so I have to support local. I use the Just-One pack and Josh uses the Dragonfly.

1480 yd bull throgh the spotters eyes

Thank you for all the great replies. It was kind of funny with the other two hunters. They didn't even know where the shot had came from, all they saw was the after math of the bull rolling down the hill. They told us they had cut his tracks and started following them cause it was the freshest...

1480 yd bull throgh the spotters eyes

I used the lieca 1600 range finder and vortex viper 12x42 binos. The range finder was the best purchase of 2011. I have ranged out to 1983 yds with it. On the hunt we also used pocket pc's with exball loaded on them. A brunton weather meter and a Nikon Fieldscope spotting scope.

1480 yd bull throgh the spotters eyes

Here is proof of how good the Berger Gen. 2 bullets really are. A 6x6 bull elk taken at 1480 yds with a complete pass through. This story is told through the eyes of the spotter, I can only imagine what it was like to see it through the shooter. Before I begin this, I want to say a special...

Anyone Familiar with unit 27 Idaho

I was just thinking that same thought this morning about the wet suit. Heck I probably would need a dry suit during that time of year. Never thought about hiring a guide service to move my car, they probably wouldn't even charge me much. HA, I know that country is steep in there. I have been...
