    Should I go 20 practical?

twenties are super fun and a measurable twist on the small and fast. I just got a 20 Tactical finished. Still working up loads for the 32 gr VMax. Virtually no recoil. Extremely fur friendly on coyotes (main reason I wanted it) and fantastic fun on PDs of which are plentiful here in MT. And I...

    Coyote Rifle Optics

I recently received a custom rifle from the smith just for coyotes after a measurable wait. 20 Tactical. Put a NX8 1-8X24 F1 on it MOAR reticle. Fur friendly configuration and for relatively closer work. Didn’t want a giant scope on it as it’s an over hill a dale rig and I also carry a...

    McMillan Wait Time

A gunsmith just finished a custom rifle for me and the McMillan stock came wrong color and wrong sling attachments. He said he quit them for two yrs I think because they couldn’t get anything right. He added some fellow gunsmiths also quit them. Seems they still have the same issue. So he...

    Subsonic .223

I shoot 300 AAC subsonic with 220 gr jacketed quite different from you however I played around with velocity to get the best accuracy. Mine turned out to be 1050 fps. Still plenty quite. Also, you could try different seating depths with the suggested crimping.

    Bear country pistol

I think it was two years ago this spring a fellow was getting an early start fly fishing here in western MT and hiking along a creek, forgive me I forget where, and stumbled upon a grizz setting on its kill. Bear murdered him. That is the worse case scenario and the one to be prepared for. It...

    Bear country pistol

I was a Fed biologist in Alaska back in my youth and now live in SW Montana. We get blacks on our deck but grizzlies are up and out of the valley here. When I’m in grizzly areas I still go with a 4” Dan Wesson 357 loaded with hard cast 180’s next to my belt buckle and a 6” 629 and hard cast...

    Almost too easy

I have a Remington 760 in .30-06 my father gave me back in 1984. I started calling it my “family unit rifle”. When I lived in Alaska you could take 5 deer and 5 caribou. Took a bunch of mom and the kids up there. Had to have inch and a half cut off the barrel and get it reblued from the salt...
