I do the same. Once you've gutted it's the way it's going to get skinned and hung in my cooler. I built a telescoping system off the hitch on my pickup hitch. Crank cable winch with reduction thats really handy with elk if I'm by myself. Best way to drain blood from carcass.

Very true. You get what you pay for. That March F has clarity unmatched by most glass under 2k. Just depends on your budget and application.

I do have the Burris XTRII on my .300mag and it's a great scope also. Haven't had any issues.

I've got the Vortex Viper Pst genII on my 6.5 Creedmore and has performed flawlessly out to a mile. Can't go wrong with that combo. I haven't tried it on .338 yet but plan too this spring.
