We use them on the Army Marksmanship unit Service Rifle and Long Range teams. We use both the 24X and 32X eyepieces. At 1,000 yards you don't just see mirgae, but you see layers of mirgae above the ground. The Prominar lenses give the best picture.

I spoke with a gentleman who extensivley shoots and tests long range ammo and rifles at the Boulder City range outside of Las Vegas, Nevada. They often shoot early in the evening through late night hours (lit targets and no neighbors to bitch about noise) so they crank the Nightforce NXS scopes...

Try the Nightforce Zero Stop or the Kenton Zero Stop (for Leupolds) for elevation. Brownell's just started carrying them.

Re: bedding scope base If it's a stock 700 you should also check the scope mount holes to make sure they are indeed true and parallel to bore line. I have one that had all four holes off, causing the rail to point the front of a Leupold M1-16X off towards 1 o'clock. Had to TIG-weld the holes...
