Thanks fellas. I am also considering the 22-243 as well. Everything is at a shortage now so I'm not really worried about components. 22 bullets seem to be easier to find though. If I go with a 22-243 would it be as simple as necking down 243 brass?

I will use and only use Shaw. I don't believe in all this hype with the other barrels like 5R rifling, lapped 4 times with gold, rifled using a diamond rifling button blah blah blah. I'm sure they are fine, but the 3 Shaws I own they all shoot sub moa at 100 yards. Hell my 17 Rem can shoot 5...

Got the easy part done and ordered a Shaw barrel, now the fun part of trying to get the brass when it becomes available :rolleyes:

So far I've heard ER shaw will be producing barrels as well as their custom rifles will be chambered in it. Has anyone heard of any other barrel company chambering for it? Want to start a build as soon as I find a donor action

I want to build a new rifle for groundhogs and coyotes and would like to build a 300 RUM and use 125gr's or 110 V-Maxes. Probably won't be shooting no more than say 400 yards. Has anyone used something that light in a Ultra? Would kind of velocities could I expect out of a 26" barrel? Would like...

The wsm uses a bigger bolt face than a 284 based cases. Have you thought about a 6.5x47 or 6.5 creedmoor?

I like the RUM or WSM. If it was me I'd go with the big 300 RUM only because I'm not a fan of belts and I'm a firm believer in bigger is better :) plus pushing 125 gr ballistic tips a few hundred fps shy of 4000 has had my interest for a long time

Try ER Shaw. (Ershawbarrels.com) I think their $221 for a blank. I've had great success with them and their nice to deal with. Any problems with the barrel send it back and they'll replace it.
