Where was your trigger finger?

I have a .300Wby, .338WM and .375Wby any of which I could use with appropriate bullets. If you are going on a guided hunt , then your .300WM is sufficient with good bullets. If you were going with friends, then the .338 or .375 would be more appropriatr

I sighte in by the rule of threes and I want my rifles to shoot down a 6" pipe out to at least 300 yds. The further sightin in at longer distances the more any error is exaggerated so I can correct it and be sure that I'm exactly on at whatever range I'm shooting at.

The 30PRC is comparable to the 300 Wby which I shoot. I have had no problems with the belt on the 300 Weatherby and fortunately I have a long neck so I don't know that problem. I guess the 30 Nosler Is very close also. Why are you having a problems you describe?

Most of my scopes are 3x by 15x. I have either 8x or 10X on my chest and 16x by 56x on a tripod. So far, so good.

Nosler 210 gr. accubond long range 30 cal. Barnes 145 gr. LRX 7mm Barnes 129 gr. LRX .270

Don't overlook the .300 Wby if you are set on 30 caliber. Also .338 Win.Mag. and the 340 Wby. mag. are splendid for what you have in mind.
