Are the prices ever coming down on components?!

This is what happens when any industry or service becomes monopolized. Especially when they become servants of the federal government. These industries are no different than Facebook, Twitter, Google etc. Once they become a servant of the government we the people suffer the consequences.

    Elk rifle setup advice

Stick with 6.5x284 and buy a light weight scope such as vortex 3-15 Razor LHT. Weight does wear on you while hiking. If you are mountain elk hunting you will be hiking so start getting in shape now. Trout Creek is close to where I grew up.

Help me decide: Minimum caliber for larger NA game

To add to this. I have shot a few deer with a 22lr, (what's that saying you guys have on here?) DRT, one shot between the lookers and off to the freezer we go.

Help me decide: Minimum caliber for larger NA game

Rather than buying a new rifle, spend that money on ammo for the one you have. Shoot consistently from now until hunting season and the rifle you have now is plenty for any north American game.

Long Range Elk Gun, What caliber you would choose?

My humble 52 year old opinion is after growing up hunting im Montana with heavy magnums from 375 h&h (still one of my favorite firearms, just don't like to shoot it anymore) 300 weatherby and so on. I was younger back then. Now after my many experiences and getting into this long range stuff...

    Utah cow and Barnes TSX

If you shoot them in the shoulders you are way better of with monolithic bullets. For God sakes don't use Hornady eldx or burgers. You won't have much meat to put in the freezer.

Ok, Hornay, one of my favorite companies did it again.-A New Mono on the Market

This great and all. But imagine if they put in as much effort producing enough bullets to keep up with demand on their already popular line as they do coming up with new. Just going to be another bullet we won't be able to buy.

    Savage 6.5x284 Lightweight hunter?

Sad that you gentlemen steered blowing smoke from purchasing that rifle on feelings and hear say. I have that rifle along with the long range hunter. My lightweight hunter is very accurate, light and pack-able. Shooting 140 VLD's, 54 gr. MagPro @2910fps.
