I’ve had two Remington 7mm Rem Mags rechambered to 7mm STW. One was a first generation Sendero stainless, the other is a 700 SPS stainless. Both are scary accurate. It’s all about the competence of the person performing the work. The stock Remington twist has been perfect for my shooting...
Sorry, I saw this post so late. I have owned a 338 Imperial Magnum for a number of years. The .404 Jeffery case is fire formed. I actually use 375 Ultra Mag brass to form mine now. Just a small neck trim is needed after sizing. Original .404 Jeffery brass needs the rim turned slightly, from...
You're exactly right. 300 Win fired in a 300 Weatherby.
I found some 270 Winchester cases the other day. They looked odd to me right away. They were clearly fired out of a 30-06. They were not 270s necked up. You could tell because the length was around 2.530" and the edge of the case mouth...

I have a bunch of Vanguards. Two 257s included. The Boyds' long action is what you need. The magnum is no different. The Prairie Hunter is a lot like a Weatherby stock in profile and feel. I prefer that style to the JRS. The laminates are really nice if a person is so inclined.
Enjoy.
Looks like a perfect plan to me.
I built a long range 300 Weatherby several years ago with a 30" Lilja barrel. Trued 700 action with Wyatt's extended magazine box. Used a Fajen laminated stock. It's a fantastic rifle.
Good luck and good choice.
I'm glad to see someone post this subject. I was going to a long time ago but just didn't want to get into it.
My results with these two brand name chronographs has been almost identical. I have tried three different Chronys, two Pro Chronos and two Oehler 35 Ps. In every case, the ProChrono...
