    25-06 Bullet fail?

I bought my daughter a 25 wssm in a browning micro hunter simply because it fit her, and ballistics are pretty much the same as 25/06. I load 117 gr sierra pro hunters for it, a couple of years ago, she killed a cow elk at 216 yards with two holes in and out. I was impressed. Just a thought...

    5R mil-spec

twoftagl, My ? about twist rate and stability has been satisfied, so I am happy to tell anyone who will listen about torqueing your rifle. My buddy and I have gone to custom length Bell & Carlson stocks (14.25") on our senderos. A friend of ours is part owner in greybull precision, and I am in...

    5R mil-spec

My shooting partner and I haven't met a sendero we can't make shoot yet. The secret is in the action and barrel being properly torqued to the stock. We are currently trying to prove the theory that we can make a sendero and or 5r mil spec shoot any suitable load. I'm not a physicist, but my...

    5R mil-spec

twoftagl, Welcome to CO. My 308 is in a sendero, and after a little tweaking, I can brag on it. Thinking of a 300 wm 5r for a couple reasons, but I can almost guarantee to make your 5r shoot sub moa with pet load, and am looking forward to doing that with one of my own soon. Aim Small Hit Small

    5R mil-spec

I am in Pagosa Springs waiting for it to turn into winter, but I am looking for a new 300 win mag in a 5R. I already have a 308 that shoots 1/4 moa if I can get my head in the same place every time. Was wondering if a 180 gr would stabilize in a faster twist, and apparently it will, so I am on...

    New to reloading

    New to reloading

I have been reloading 21 years and still have alot to learn. When I work up a load, I decide what powder I want to use and bullet choice. Then I start several grains below max, and load 5 rounds each working up to max .1 gr at a time. Then I shoot , and any groups of interest get repeated...

    5R mil-spec

A question for those more knowledgeable about ballistics than I. Does the 1 in 10 twist in these barrels stabilizes a 180 gr bullet, or do they prefer a heavier weight bullet? I am thinking of one, and have lots of 180's for 300 win mag. Thanks for any input. Aim Small Hit Small

savage 110 fires when i close the bolt

Have you cleaned this rifle? If you clean without a bore guide, and get solvent in the trigger group it will gum up ,and not let the sear re-engage. When you load a round, and close the bolt the sear is dis-engaged, and releases the firing pin automaticaly. Just a thought. Aim small Hit small

Advice for fine tuning my loads

One thing I always do is after I weigh out on my rcbs chargemaster, I fine tune on my dillon balance beam, every load. Might be one to as many as four or five kernels, not grains, but kernels of powder, long or short. I get plus or minus 6 feet per second standard deviation in chronographed...

    300 rum

Just tuned in, I have a pet load for my 300 rum sendero, Rem brass, Barnes TSX 180 gr,Fed 215 primers, 92.9 gr Retumbo, ragged one hole group. Start at 50 in lbs torque on bedding screws, and go from there. Have to check my notes for seating depth if your interested. Aim small, Hit small

    Help with 300 ultra groups....

My shooting partner and I have been tweaking factory senderos for several years now, and are still learning. But one of the most crucial must do's is torque your action bedding screws to match your load. We have wrangled some unbelieveable accuracy by doing this. Just a thought Aim small...

CO elk locations 1st rifle vs 3rd rifle

Glad to hear you are taking your daughter hunting, I'm hunting with mine this weekend as well. By the third season most mature bulls have left the cows, and gone back to being bachelors. The rut was a little late this year, at least in SW CO, so chances of finding mature bulls still with cows is...
