Favorite 6.5 CM powder, that is not H4350, for 140+gr bullets

RL 16 is my favorite powder for the 6.5 CM. I’ve also had luck with RL 17, but have not used it quite as much. Will try some RL 26 if I ever get my hands on any.

    Deer Bullet

I have yet to shoot the partitions in any of the 6.5's I've owned. Don't know why, but I guess I need to try them. Been wanting to try the 129 AB LR too! Shot a bunch of the 130 AB out of a 260 and they worked very well for me. Bought some 120 GMX to run with some varget today. Hopefully test...

    Deer Bullet

I will be using the 120 TTSX in my 6.5 CM this year. It's my first time using a mono bullet. Accuracy has been great, but not sure if it may be too tough for our whitetail though. My back up is the tried and true 140 Sierra gameking though. I believe the Barnes will work fine though. All my...

What to buy?? Howa or savage??

I really like my Howa in 6.5 CM heavy barrel. It's been sub moa since day one. The savage is hands down easier to upgrade. I believe straight from the factory the Howa is nicer though. The action is very smooth, and there is some aftermarket support.

    Hey 6.5 guys

I think very highly of the 140 Sierra Gamekings. They have worked great for me in a 6.5 CM, 260 Rem, and 6.5x55. Good luck with the 140 Speer Hot-Cor also. This deer season I'll be using the 120 TTSX. They shoot amazing, but little worried they may be too tough for our deer. This is my first...

    Working up a load

I also shoot loads over the magnetospeed. It does affect point of impact, my rifle shoots about 5" high with it attached. Have noticed that there is no difference in my group size though.

Howa 1500 6.5 CM Mag COAL

I've never measured the internal box mag. My detachable mag system Howa offers measures 2.840". Edit: I just measured the box mag and the detachable mag. Box mag = 2.895" Detachable mag = 2.850"

    Barnes Long Range Hunting Ammo

They are making it in 6.5 Creedmoor now also. Thinking about trying some, or loading some with that bullet. I've never used Barnes bullets before.

    Reloder-16 loads

I loaded four with 42 grains to adjust scope and I think it actually ended up being the center of a node from 41.8-42.1. Was very tight until I shanked the fourth shot, should have stopped at three lol. I did not keep that targe, but first three rounds and that charge weight came in at sub 1/2"...

    Reloder-16 loads

I think it turned out very well for my first OCW. Did not chronograph due to not trusting my old chronograph. Will be ordering magnetospeed soon. All five powder charges came in sub moa. I stopped pretty shy of listed max though. Will be doing 43-43.6 grains next weekend to look for a higher...

Lead sled vs sandbags accuracy issues

I used a lead slead for the last five or six years for developing handloads. I have no issues with it, but just recently I decided I wanted to be more involved than just sitting the rifle in the slead and pulling the trigger. I got the Caldwell rock front rest and a set of rear bags. Could not...

    Beam scale recommendations?

I've had great luck with my Lyman 1000

First OCW test with RL16 and 140 Sierra Gamekings in 6.5 Creedmoor.

And those 140 ELDM from hornady is a pretty awesome factory load. I measured the CBTO of all 20 rounds and they only variance was +/- .001". The 120 amax had nowhere near those tolerances.

First OCW test with RL16 and 140 Sierra Gamekings in 6.5 Creedmoor.

Yes the 41.8-42.1 impacted roughly the same, so from my understanding that is a node. I loaded four rounds at 42 grains to sight in with. Which may be the one I try. I have no pic of the group, but it seemed great first three rounds were probably sub 1/2" with no vertical dispersion. Off course...

First OCW test with RL16 and 140 Sierra Gamekings in 6.5 Creedmoor.

Finished up with 120 amax and 140 ELDM factory loads.
