I'm shooting 143s in my 280AI with good accuracy and ES with RL 23. Velocity was a 3215 average if I remember, no pressure signs. RL26 showed tremendous accuracy at 100 but with a wider ES in limited initial testing, only 20 rounds or so. I think you will be happy with the Hammers.

I think it depends a lot on what and where you are hunting. My son's first rifle was a 7mm-08 about 15 years ago. I've loaded a variety of bullets from 162 gr SST to 120 gr Hammers. He killed a handful of hogs with a single shot from close to about 225 yards with the SST. Lots of good results...

This is an option for sure. I would spend some time training before going directly to force fetch due to the dog's age and what prior training was. Also be certain you understand the concept of "force fetch" thoroughly or have a pro trainer do it.
