    Cooper arms 280 ackley velocity

Believe it or not you chose the right powder. What weight bullet are you shooting? I shoot 140 grain Nosler accubonds. I shoot 59 grains and then jump up to 62 grains. My best accuracy is with 59 grains and I get 3/8" groups at 100 yds. The group opens up a little as I increase the powder then...

What first? Powder or seating depth?

Try other powders other than RL 22, tryH 4831sc or H1000. You will get good velocity and probably good groups with RL 22 but when the weather changes so will your point of impact! Very temp. sensitive.

    Magpro powder

I shot RL22 in my 280 AI until the season changed and so did my point of impact! I use H4831sc now and love it. I shoot 140 grain accubonds and CCI BR primers. Believe it or not the primer made a big difference in my groups. 59 grains of H4831sc with CCI BR primers and 140 gr. Accubonds gives...

    Favorite 240 & 257 Wby loads?

I've been loading the 240 and 257 Weatherby loads for a few years but getting away from Alliant RL 22 and RL 25. Any advice will be appreciated. The temp sensitivity is too much, my point of impact changes from summer to hunting season. Any good luck with Hodgdon powder?

    6mm Remington

I can't recall the exact recipe but I tried quite a few loads for my 6mm and when I tried VVN140 and Sierra 85 grain hollow point boat tail I started getting 5 shot groups inside a dime at 100 yds.

    Inconsistent Groups

Personally I DO NOT put a round down the barrel with any oil in the barrel. If I have put any oil through the bore I will wipe it out with a patch with alchohol then dry the bore good with dry patches. I'm sure you've shot a rifle close to dark and have seen the flame from the powder burn? I...

    Need some help....

I did not elaborate earlier but I have great luck determining bushing size by measuring the neck of a loaded round then deduct one thousandth and two thousandth and order those two bushings from Sinclair, or any other distributer who carries them. The bushing two one thousandth usually gives...

    Need some help....

I use the Redding dies with the micrometer on the bullet seating die and neck size with titanium bushings. The only way to go! I switched to all Redding dies. The best in my opinion. Redding can help you with the correct bushings.

    280 Ackley Improved load info

I shoot Nosler brass, Nosler 140 grain Accubonds with 59-62.5 grains of H4831sc. I get the best accuracy with 59 grains and then close to the same accuracy with 62.5 grains H4831sc at 3050 fps. My groups open up a little in between these two weights. I was shooting Federal 210 match primers and...

    IMR 8208 recipie

I tried 8208 in my 22-250 with 50 grain Hornady V max bullets and the groups were terrible. With RL10 X I get 1/2'' 5 shot groups. with IMR 8208 my groups ran up to 3"!

    240 Wby magnum flyer

I'm going to try 100 grain Nosler partition with the Hodgdon powder. If anyone has any experience with this caliber I would welcome your comments.

    Nosler Brass

Good idea ordering all you will need to get if from the same lot........I also tried some in 280 AI and love it! A lot easier and saves time, money and wear and tear not having to fireform brass. I always prep my new brass but it is nice already having it prepped and weight sorted. I plan to try...

Help with 22-250 loads with Vihtavuori powder

I'm looking for some accurate loads for the 22-250. I would like to use Vihtavuori powder with 50 and 55 grain bullets.

    hodgdon extreme powders

What you have read is true. Alliant RL powders are VERY temp. sensitive. I have some great loads with RL 22 and RL 25 but have started using Hodgdon H 4831 in place of them because of the temp. insensivity. My experience was I developed a load shot great with good velocity in late spring. When I...

Alliant RL powders compared to Hodgdon Exteme

I have reloaded rifle ammo for about 10 years now and I have some very accurate loads with the Alliant powders mainly in RL22 and RL25. The bad thing is they are so temp sensitive I do not use them anymore. With my 280AI and my Weatherby calibers I switched to Hodgdon H4831sc for that...
