    Yes a mil-dot can be used for hold over. The BDC is a good tool but you have to know ballistics of every bullet you use. Same is true of a hold over but a BDC won't help you range. This is a good training tool. www.mil-dot.com/index.htm

    Do you use an adjustable cheekpiece on your rifle?

    If one made from a brake pedal pad and duct tape counts as adjustable(I did adjust it when I made it) then yes I do. May look like Frankenrifle but it works.

    Have a Rock River match rifle. It certanly is easier to shoot than the M1/M1A.Still like the big gun though.

    Long range ammo

    I've had alot of good results with American Eagle 168 gr.OTM. My M1A match rifle and 700 SPS Tactical are shooting under an inch with it. At around $14.00 a box it's a good deal. It's made by Federal and the ballistics is very similar to GMM. I've used it out to 600 yards.
