    SOLD/EXPIRED 7 mm RM, 45-70, and 30-06 Brass

I'm going through some reloading stuff I bought years ago and realize it's time to move it on to someone that can use it. The prices shown are for both the brass and shipping costs. It's priced to mainly cover shipping and get it to someone needing it! 7mm Rem Mag brass - 38 pieces, 13 appear...

SOLD/EXPIRED McMillian Stock for Winchester Pre-64 Monte Carlo

I have a used McMillian stock for a Winchester Pre-64 in a Monte Carlo configuration. The stock has been used some and has a little wear. There is one spot on the hand grip that is missing some of the black paint where it rubbed on part of a pack. If it was repainted you'd never know it was...

To Bed or Not Bed the Recoil Lug in New McMillian Edge Stock

That's good info WC. I'll play with it the next time I'm at the range. Is parallax more pronounced at longer yardages? Meaning will I notice it more when I'm looking at something that is 500 yards away versus 100 yards?

To Bed or Not Bed the Recoil Lug in New McMillian Edge Stock

WC, The scope on the gun is a Leupold VX-II 6-18x40mm with adjustable objective. I've been diligent about making sure the AO was set to the correct yardage when shooting. Thanks for the other advice too. I'll do some research on shooting technique and styles and ensure my scope is set...

To Bed or Not Bed the Recoil Lug in New McMillian Edge Stock

I hit the range today for the first time since bedding it and the groups looks like they've tightened up a bit. To the point of being satisfactory and I don't think I'm going to do anything else to the gun. I shot a 7 shot group and pulled a couple of them. I also wanted to see how the gun...

To Bed or Not Bed the Recoil Lug in New McMillian Edge Stock

So I bedded the action yesterday. It's a strange feeling taking a dremel and prepping the very expensive stock before the bedding job and then after to clean it up. It didn't turn out 100% perfect as the barrel still isn't centered and the bolt release rubs now on the trigger guard. I know...

    Re-barrel Rem 700

westcliffe01, Thanks for the info. Yes, the McM Hunter's Edge stock is already pillar bedded so that is good to go. I will agree with you that a heavier barrel is very nice in many ways, but not if it's a hunting rifle that has to be carried every where. The goal of this gun is to make...

    Re-barrel Rem 700

The link below is to a thread I started about bedding the action and then it transformed into a discussion on the barrel and gunsmith work. http://www.longrangehunting.com/forums/f19/bed-not-bed-recoil-lug-new-mcmillian-edge-stock-110885/index3.html As you can see by the two targets in the...

    Re-barrel Rem 700

Westcliff, I wouldn't consider the barrels I'm lookong at to be light contour. They have muzzle diameters of .660 to .670. They're for a big game rifle and not a heavy bench gun. My stock barrel has a .660 muzzle diameter. Light countours would be something like a Lilja #2 or the stock barrel...

    Re-barrel Rem 700

I found a Bartlein at Bugholes that I really like but its only a 1in 10. I've called them and most of the barrel makers and every one has recommended a 1 in 11 twist based on my use if 150 to 180 grain bullets. I know a 1 in 10 will work fine but I like the idea of using an 11.

    Re-barrel Rem 700

I didn't see any .308 barrels with an 11 twist though.

    Re-barrel Rem 700

It's for a 30-06. From what I've been told the 11.25 twist would be the best choice, but the 10 twist would be fine and I probably would never notice any difference. I could special order one of these, but the waits are ridiculous these days. I'm blown away at how long of a wait there is...
