Picked my Seater die, which FL or Neck die?

I'd go with both, a bench rest shooter I shoot with wins all the time! He mostly fl sizes.. But neck sizes half the time.. Still shoots 5 shots at 600 yards in 1.5 inches. He was crying one day cause of a 3.78inch 5shot group at 600yards I said boo who, my group was 8 inches and I'm smiling! I...

    temp and velocity

From what I'vefound all powders have some kinda loss in velocity in ddecreased temps! And a increase in velocity with hi temps. But they say its not temp sensitive.. Even if the velocity is 25fps less in cold weather. On the other hand it could be the barometric pressure, or humidity is higher...

    Reloading 270WSM

Also when sizing cases make sure you use a q tip and put some case lube on the neck. I've had problems with it not sizing right and had to run it through again. Make sure you have sufficient lube, the wsm is the only round I got stuck in a die. All because I didn't use enough lube.. Over 20years...

    Reloading 270WSM

My loads are this, 130 grain berger with 76.5 grains magpro moly coated at 3,427fps I'd start at 72.5 and work up. My 150 gr bergers are 72 grains to 72.5 at 3,216fps on a warmer day the fps are 3300. That's all different with the 130gr hornady SST at 3390fps at 76.5 gr magpro. With the 110grain...

    temp and velocity

I did a test with magpro and my 270wsm in my select grade kimber, 72 grains magpro moly coated and 150 grain berger, at 70 degrees I got 3,216 fps. I then put 5 rounds in the freezer for 30 min. I have a range 20feet out the backdoor. The velocity dropped to 3,130 so almost 100 fps less! Just a...

    Light Weight Rifle Build

go wwith a tubbs speedlock firing pin if your building a 700, a 70, mauser. Increases locktime and saves weight.

    Light Weight Rifle Build

My kimber is thin but its 24 inches, and I'm shooting 600 yards with above average groups. Id say goabout 20.5 inches and flute the barrel, bolt, even the floorplate. That will save weight and look cool to. Also cool it much faster for a 2nd or 3rd shot. My rilfe is almost to light as it is...

    Light Weight Rifle Build

If you can hit it at 500 yards. Short barreled patrol rifles shoot quarter inch groups at 100 yards, but there not made to shoot past 300 with the same accuracy. Do what you want, just don't say we didn't warn you. And the ones I'm talking about are heavy fluted 18-20 inch barrels. Don't think...

    Light Weight Rifle Build

With a short 16.5 barrel your muzzle blast will be even more, even with a 7mm-08. Just so ya know. Look at a 30carbine outa m1 18 inch barrel, compared to a ruger pistol insane blast and noise.

    Light Weight Rifle Build

Way to short of a barrel at 16.5 inches for 600 yards. If it would be good all the guys I shoot benchrest at 600yards would have them. Stick with 20 at least. I'm not saying short isn't accurate, because short stiff barrels aresome of the most accurate rifles out there. Not for long range...

    Light Weight Rifle Build

Just weighed my kimber with scope and ammo 7 pounds 11 ounces. That's pretty light for a 24 inch barrel. That shoots 130s @3400fps. And less than half inch groupsat 100 yards with 3 shots. I've seen some light weight rifles at 5.5 pounds that shoot good, but not with the short mags unless...

    270 win vs 270wsm

I'm getting 3215 with 150 bergers moly coated, these are the only 150grainers I have shot outa my gun. I'm at 72.5 gr magpro and with this load it shows no signs of pressure, even the recoil is not to bad. I know the gook says 70gr magpro, but with moly you have to go over a grain or 2. To...

    270 win vs 270wsm

So you could be right about the pressure, but I don't see any signs of high pressure. If I would go up more I proly would see sticky bolts crater primers, ect. If I get 7-8 reloads the psi can't be that bad.
