Hi.
A well known gunsmith in uk had a sako 75 on display that had 'blown up'. It too was a 25-06 that had a .308 fired in it.
Out of curiosity, is it a requirement that gunsmiths report 'blown up' firearms to the Wildlife service?
Hi.
Save up for a quality action. Buy once, cry once. Borden Alpine would be my recommendation. If you really want to push the boat out, then a Borden Rimrock.
52 grains of H4350 was my go to load for pretty much any 100 grain cup and core bullet. Worked great with the Nosler BT and the Sierra 100 GK.
This load was safe in my Rifle. Always begin with the starting load and work up.
Had i purchased a custom, single point cut rifled barrel that looked like that, i too would be disappointed with the standard of internal finish.
I hope you get it shooting. Maybe send the pics to the manufacturer and ask if they think it is acceptable.
Hi.
Do not be concerned with the 115 berger in a ten twist. My 25-06 Ackley shot them very well with same twist.
Have fun trying to work up a load. Even if the Bergers will not shoot at least you will have had a day on the range. Better than a day at work lol.
Hi.
Ramshot TAC is superb in the .308. I shot a lot of it with both 168 SMK and 155 Scenar. Meters great through powder throwers too.
Ramshot powders are popular in UK. They are REACH compliant and easily imported from the factory in Belgium.
Hi.
I am i big quarter bore fan. I have had a 25-05 Ackley in the past and currently have a standard 25-06.
The new Weatherby 6.5 RPM has peaked my interest. This case necked down to .25 in a 7 twist barrel would be excellent.
Hi.
I think Boyds are exporting again. https://www.boydsgunstocks.com/content/international-customers
I read that there have been some changes in ITAR regulations. I wish i could find some hard evidence with regard to ITAR, but it does seem that Boyds will export once more. Do you have any...
Hi Wolf
I like the Boyds stocks. For the money i dont think they can be beaten. I have a left handed, thumb hole stock here in the UK just waiting to be fitted to my 25-06.
Poor show from Boyds though with your faulty stock. It would have cost them very little to keep you a happy customer.
Hi Bg
I am pleased you mentioned the ttsx. I have a box to try. We are allowed to sell our Venison and game meat dealers are increasingly asking for lead free bullets to be used. I had even considered trying the 80 grain one.
Hi.
Wow! That looks like something from one of the 'Alien' movies. That is an emphatic exit wound. I wager it did not go far.
Congratulations to your Daughter. That is a fine shot at over 300 yards.
Hi.
It would seem that the market for high bc .25cal bullets is increasing. Berger have thrown their hat in the ring with this NEW! Berger 25 Caliber 135 Grain Long Range Hybrid Target™ Bullets | Berger Bullets
Not a hunting bullet but nice to see the .25 going strong.
