Just my experience..........the one bullet that has never let me down in 7mm is the 160gr Accubond, has worked flawlessly from 100yds to 1200yds.
I did have a problem with them about 10 years ago, had a couple box's where all the white tips had fallen off (bad lot). Nosler replaced them before...
I do it a bit differently...........a couple years ago I bought a bag of 400 brass that Federal tore down because of a bad lot of bullets, I tried as suggested taking out the decapping pin but found that concentricity was out by several thousands, after trying several method's I found the best...
Back just a few years ago Accurate powder came out with 2 new powders LT30 and LT32.
LT32 was specifically designed to compete with VihtaVuori N133 at the short range bench rest game.
Quite a few bench rest shooters found LT32 to be just a bit on the slow side so they blended it 50/50 with...
In my 6mmAI I started out with 500 Remington cases from the same lot (I used a fire forming barrel to not mess up a new barrel). My favorite bullet is the 107gr SMK with RL22. I also had pretty good luck with Berger 105gr VLD's
I had a batch of the old Hornady 105gr A-Max that would blow up...
No way I'd go a faster twist than a 1-8".........
If Bergers are spun too fast they have been known to come un-done (AKA: blow up) before they hit the target, for the most part with 3 groove barrel's. for your project get a 5 or 6 groove barrel
I have not tried the 55gr NBT in a 16" barrel but shoot them regularly in 18" and 20"1-8"twist barrel's
been disappointed with CFE223, seems to do better with heavier bullets.
My fav is VVN133, will easily get you over 3000fps. IMR8208XBR also works well, as a third choice LT32
2144 yards rock chuck, 338 MOAG with 300gr SMK, was in 2005 so it was ranged with a Wild optical rangefinder and later verified by gps and 1/2 and 1/2 laser. Rangefinders have come a long way since then.
The OP (Hicks), didn't state what weight range when he was looking at when he asked about Favorite trigger for Rem 700, to me this makes a HUGE difference........
for the 1oz to 2 oz trigger pull the Jewell and Bix & andy are my only 2 choices for a benchrest trigger. for pull weights up from...
I was shocked when I went into my local gun store yesterday, they had 1000 300WM cases. Federal for .49 each
I seldom see Federal in bulk (except .223) and seldom at a great price
Very interesting article, I like how they worded it "Executive Summary"
Obviously salt bath annealing has put a dent (pun intended) in AMP's business. I have used salt bath and it seems to work and is more consistent than the torch methods I have tried, obviously I don't have the testing...
I use the Bore tech C4 once in a while but all you ever need is Bore Tech Eliminator.
Just use Eliminator every time you clean and you will never need to use anything else, if you have a badly fouled barrel with either copper or carbon just let it sit over night and in the morning it's spotless...
