How is your journey going sir?? I’m sorry I didn’t see this earlier. It can be done. Still haven’t hit my goal of a public OTC archery mature bull but been really close a couple of times.
It’s a difficult conundrum if you’re like me and not sure what bullet you may ultimately wind up shooting. The ELDX line has LONG bearing surfaces. Something like a hammer is short. To seat an ELDX at the neck junction would make a heck of a jump for a lot of other bullets.
Some questions about this. Was finishing up a 300 WSM rifle build and debated about a SAAMI vs custom freebore. It seems the freebore physics is more complicated than simply pushing the bullet out gives more space for more powder. My question is have any of you fired the same powder, same bullet...
Bonie I think you may be right. I looked at the rifling marks on my dummy round and they see more of a smudge. I still have it so may try the sharpie as well.
Thanks so much sedancowboy! My brother in law has a lathe, lives down the street and I just volunteered him!
I like it. I am looking for 2650-2700 fps ultimately as this will do everything I need it to and then some. The Hornady book has an H4350 recipe I may try that for now. Seems a little fast from what I’ve read. The learning curve is fun and I am glad I was able to spot the extractor marks before...
Hornady load data has Winchester brass and the win LRM primer out of a 24” barrel with a 1:10 twist. They have a COAL 2.920 and write 2800 velocity max out of 62.5 grains of H4350. I have that powder as well. I will also go back and remeasure my chamber with a Hornady over all length gauge as...
