    Barrel recommendations

Have you tried Bugholes.com? They have several in stock. You may have to be flexible on contours but there are lots of sites that have barrels in stock. You don’t have to order direct from the manufacturer.

    7mm08 loads for hunting& accuracy

The easiest way for me to measure group size is this - Close your calipers on an unfired bullet Zero your calipers Measure the outside diameter That will give you the C to C without any math Try it, you’ll like it. Bob

    A loooong shot !

It’s 7744 yards. Maybe thinking feet? It’s a long ways. A lot of shots. A long flight time. And a lot of money I bet. 👍🏻

    InReach

I’ve had an inReach mini for several years. I really like it and depend on it. Like was mentioned above, I do everything from my phone (in airplane mode) and never have to do much with the device. It has always worked, every time I send a message. Also, you can have it attach your coordinates to...

    7mm-08 barrel length

My little Kimber Montana 7-08 has a 22" barrel. It is a pleasure to carry and shoot. I shoot the 150gr ELD-X. It has been a one-shot killer for deer and elk. I’m shooting IMR4166 and getting about 5/8” groups.

    Looking for first pack.

First, congratulations on your SD elk tag. I got a Hills rifle tag in 2019 and I drew a Hills archery tag this year. I mentored 2 other elk hunters in between those two hunts. What unit did you draw? I may have some spots you’d like to check out. I've owned 3 Eberlestock packs, including the...

How close are RL17 and H4350?

For years I used RL17 with 140gr bullets in my .260AI's. It gave great velocities and so-so SD/ES. It sucks for temp stability. I was popping primers in the summer heat. I first switched to IMR4451 which improved the temp stability tremendously and somewhat improved the SD/ES. But velocity was...

Are the prices ever coming down on components?!

Well, when I started reloading in the late '70's a brick of primers went for $10. In the 2000's they cost $30 a brick. I would imagine the current price will stick for a while. And then increase again. I don’t see the price dropping back down to $10 a brick. Though I can hope it might. 😁 Bob

    Need some help please

I would separate the two rifle uses. Learn good rifle shooting skills to enable you to hunt. Build your skills and experience. No rush. Ease into competition. My advice for the F-Class angle is this. Start going to matches now without a rifle. See what goes on and meet some people. Ask lots of...

    90 gr ELD-X and 6x47 Lapua

Hodgdon's site lists 6X47L data for Nosler's 90gr E-Tip. I think I would use that starting data and work from there. Bob
