The 17 HMR will kill coyotes given the right situation as will a 22lr, and 22mag but my minimum caliber for all around use for winter furred coyotes not in a trap would be the duece (222) with a 50 grain bullet. As to changing the bullets in the mag, some have even taken it to a higher level...

I am from Eastern Iowa and my interests are coyote hunting and varmint shooting. I build all of my own rifles and will always be a journeyman toolmaker altho I have worn the management hat for 14 years. Russ
