I visit and shoot in Hurricane which is in Jim’s backyard about two times a week, take the nieces and nephews out shooting. There is alot of people shooting there out in the desert. My competition caliber which is out to a 1,000. When I really want to shoot far but not fast I’ll shoot my 6.5 prc with Berger’s 156/153.5 and my 28 Nosler with Berger’s 180/190’s . Both are pretty “easy” out too a mile. I have had first round impacts with my 28 at 1960 and then hit 3 out of 5...

I wasn’t able too get the 195’s to shoot in 5 different 28N’s , however it was pretty easy to get all 5 to shoot the 180’s and over 3150 velocity with 2 going over 3300. Always had a very accurate load before any pressure signs.

In my 18 Nosler I was not able to get the 195’s to shoot. The 180’s and now the 190 hybrid target shoot really good and all 7 animals dropped within 10 feet.

I would go with the Ruger American Predator, I have 5 of them and they all shoot great, for a hunting gun the stocks have never bothered me. I have put a scopes on them that cost about 3 times the gun.

My Browning Xbolt Hells canyon came in 1/8 twists, then after 850 rounds I put a Krieger 1/8 twists on it. Gained a 100 fps. Shoots the 190 hybrid target at 3070, not maxed out but very accurate out to a long ways

If you hand load I would go with the 28 Nosler, it works!

30-06 with a 180 Partition pill. Killed a few elk that set up

Vortex Razor 4.5X22X50. I have one on each of my 3 main hunting rifles. Work great and still reasonably priced.

I’ve had a 28 since 2016 and have reloaded for 6 different 28’s have used Berger bullets for all and H1000 for 5 of them and Retumbo in only one. 33 was accurate but dirty and all my experience is that 28’s like too be clean, no more than 25 rounds before cleaning. I go hunt with 3 shots down...

On my 3 main hunting guns I use the Vortex Razor 4.5x22x50 great for mid and long range and locking turrets help while hunting. I might have had the windage dial get turned on me.

I use the 224 Valkyrie shooting the factory 88 grain Hornady and hand land the Berger 85.5’s . I also have a Bergara BMP 6.5 Creedmoor hand load the Hornady 147’s . I use both for competition’s. They both easily shoot out to and past a 1,000 yards accurately and both are capable hunting rounds...
