Advice for working up new load

Hey guys, I'm rusty on my reloading and needing a starting point. By reading your articles and loads I want to start reloading again. I have a Rem 700 SF STW, 180 VLD Berger Bullets and RL 25 Powder and want to get started. None of my old books have this combo and need a min and max for this...

First 1000 Yard Group with New 7 STW

I have the exact same gun, the only difference will be that I can't find any H1000 and I'm going with some RL25 ( found 6lbs so I grabbed em up ). I hope to be working up a load soon. Thanks, Mike

Hey Mud, since you also shoot the 180's , what twist rate do you have? Do you get the same results? Thanks, Mike

First 1000 Yard Group with New 7 STW

    I've been told I have a 9.25, I wouldn't think it would make a huge difference , and I get confused , 9.25 is a slower twist than a 9 correct?

Well , now I'm torn, my Nosler Book does show H1000 and it also is their most accurate powder they tested. I guess you can't argue with success, any recommendations on locating some? Do ya'll like magnum primers?

looks like rl25 is most popular powder?

Yes ,I have a Rem 7mm STW Sendaro. I have been told it has 1:9.25 twist, all factory. Recently gotten interested in some long range shooting so I am attempting to convert my 140 grain factory hunting rounds to some 168 vld long range hunting and target rounds. Trying to save time and money (...

looks like rl25 is most popular powder?

Hey guys, I've got brass , bullets (168 vlds) now I need powder. I've got some IMR 4831 but checking my old book it does not show that powder as a suggestion. Looking at the reloading forum the most popular powder seems to be rl25 with somewhere around 79-82 grains being in the final cut-off...

Best way to find proper length of bullet?

Back in the day to find proper length ( probable most accurate length ) is to "smoke" a dead round with a candle and turn it black, load it, pull it out carefully and check the rifling marks, back it up until there are no marks. Is that still the recommended way to find a starting point? Figered...
