    Fireforming Pressures

Ok you got me on that i expect my rifle barrels to last thousands of rounds and even when the groups open up they will still be game getters. I cant see myself ever buying a gun that will need a new barrel at 1,000 rounds so i stuck my oar in and never been in a boat like that. Sorry. Wally

    Fireforming Pressures

What is the use of fireing a charge of powder into the air or a wad of cornflower and paper either if you want to make a bang use a air filled paper bag. Use a proper loaded cartridge on paper or on game and have fun doing it. If nothing else the practice has got to help your grouping or game...

    Fireforming Pressures

I did see a photo of a brake that had been left on when fireforming with tissue paper as a wad. It was not a pretty sight. Wally

    Fireforming Pressures

When fireforming my 17A/H from 22Hornet brass i use the identical load as my hunting ammo but i am not loading up to max i load for accuracy and my fireform loads shoot to same P O I as my hunting ammo. I tried a lower charge but the shoulders did not seem as sharp as needed. Wally

Brian my gamekepper friend whoes bolt came apart on his Savage 17Hornet sent it back and found out that 3 others had been returned with the same problem so he has rejected the gun and found a BSA 22Hornet and is having it re-barreled in 17Hornet. Wally

Already got them in the UK and almost identicle to my 17A/H in a Ruger 77/22H chassis ie 3,650ft/sec pushing a 20grV/M. But a gamekeeper friend of mine who has a Savage heavy barreled composit stocked one has just had his bolt come apart in his hand when ejecting a fired case. He is in love...

    Loading pressures

Surely any excess pressure sign is a advance warning of impending doom and should be investigated. An increase in case size just ahead of the crouve or rim is an indication of excess pressure or an oversized chamber. An increase in case length every shot could be an over pressure load or a badly...
