    SLOW VELOCITY 270WSM - 7mm.RM

At what range is the Crono and are you sure it is not the Crono that is just reading slow? I have played with the same 270WSM load and saw around 3100 FPS for the exact same powder and primer combo using the same powder amount. H4831 is a good powder for the 270WSM. R19 or H1000 (which...

Boar, 8112 inches (226 yards or so) Doe, in the woods 72 yards Doe, 6408 inches (178 yards or so) Hog was my longest shot ever on a critter. I don't have places like many of you that I can reach beyond that. Longest shot in any of my fields is 330yards. .270WSM is perfect for my chores.

    scope /eye releaf

It all depends on the scope, the rifle, the use and the caliber. I eye relief between 3.75 and 4 inches on my M70 in 270WSM. It is light enough to give you a whack if you crawl the stock much. On my .22LR guns, I am not that picky, you won't get whacked by them. I would use a scope...

yep savage for a build, but they only look good from 100yards away, after you turn from those tiny groups and look back at the bench. Savage makes a homely rifle that tends to shoot very well.

    270 Win questions

It is a great caliber. I use shoot a .270WSM and it will roll anything short of a big bear. Your rifle can too as long as like anyone we keep an eye on the energy level at impact.

MARKSMANSHIP BASICS - How hard do you hold

Depends on the rifle and the bark vs bite. On a light rifle with a bite at the level of my .270WSM I pull it back tight into my shoulder, and when on the bench I use my left hand to squeeze the bag. In the field, out of tree stands, I use the stand front rail as a rest with my left palm down...

    How Do You Hunt Squirrels?

Rem 597, tweaked a bit. bedded into a boyds lam stock, lighter trigger by way of a new hammer. Exact edge extractor. 4-12X40AO Leuy. .5at50yrd groups with minimags. I got a good barrel. Longest head shot, 91 yards. I use whatever rest I can find. Trees, knees stumps etc. Most shots...

    140 NBT vs 140 Accubond

As a small time guide (for a local AF bombing range, different story). I deal with about 100 shot deer each year. Bang flop is a dream most of the time and those only happen when the shot hits the neck or back. I have tracked many very well hit deer. A simple doe with her lungs blown out can...

    140 NBT vs 140 Accubond

I also shoot a WSM (270WSM). I will not use BTips for hunting with my rifle but will shoot AccuBombs for all my hunting. They hold together better at the higher impact speeds seen at my shorter shooting ranges (when compared to some here). If I was dropping deer at 500 yards on a regular...

    Accubond in a 270 WSM

I have had GREAT luck with them in the same cartridge, let um rip and shoot straight.

    accubond not exiting

4 recent kills with 140gr AB out of my 270WSM (3220FPS at muzzle) WT buck, 120yards, broadside pass through 140 hog, 225yards, broadside quartering toward me, pass through shoulder to back of ribs 75 yard doe, through both shoulders (moving shot) pass through 187 yard doe, hit just a bit...

    powders for 300 WSM

Also consider H1000, I have good luck with it in my .270WSM. It is not as slow as R22 but slower than the R19. I found a few years back that R19 was a bit inconsistant between lots. I will have to look up the R17, never heard of it.

    6500 or Conquest, Nikon

4200 and 6500 glass are pretty much the same, fully multicoated. I have a 4200 and it takes a ton of money to get better glass. Mine is brighter than my Leupold. I am VERY happy with the 4200 so I would imagine you would like the 6500 just as much and still have money left over for other...

    Quality Hunting Knives

What is wrong with a Buck 110? American made, great steel, holds an edge, under $40. I have had one for years. My other favorite is an American made Gerber 600 folder. The only problem is it is tough to get a good edge on it. A Lansky kit fixed that problem. By far the best thing you can...

    stampede this morning

That is an issue with public land... They had just as much right to hunt "your buck" as you did. Because you camped there does not give you first dibs. Go deeper to get away from the crowd. Utah has lots of land. I lived in AZ for years and would drive 25 miles of dirt roads to get to the...
