There are no limitations for non-residents using straight wall cartridges. They have been legal since the bill was passed in 2017. There IS a limitation that only residents can use crossbows and only during late muzzleloader season.

All the older 700's in .260 were 1:9. This rifle is a early 2000's model that was made for 3-4 years I believe. They only changed to a 1:8 in the last 2-3 years. Nice rifle!

Fully prepped Norma 7 saum brass were included with the rifle so I haven't formed any yet. I plan on necking down 7 saum brass when I need to form. To form with my setup: neck down with a .295 bushing, run over a 6.5 expander ball, trim and turn necks to .015, and neck down with a .291...

I'm using Redding 7 Saum FL bushing dies without the expander ball/decapping rod. I already had a RCBS Competition Seater and the 6.5 mm internals. Although I'm using a 6mm seater plug with VLDs.

I doubt the BR and dasher would feed well with the standard mag box. You'd probably end up using a center feed Wyatts for reliable feeding. The 6/6.5 Lapua and 6XC will feed well with a factory box and follower. Another option for a hunting/target shooting cartridge is the 260 rem or 260 ai.

Roughly how large was the mushroom in your expansion testing? After thinking about this a bit, I'm willing to bet at under 4000 fps mv you'll see small exits on coyotes. Above that is a trickier proposition (as are fox and cats). To my knowledge there isn't a 17 or 20 cal mono on the market...

With that kind of velocity out of a hornet, I'd imagine 4400-4600 fps out of a .17 Rem would be achievable with the 18 gr. That might be a tad rough on fur but I'd love to see it on prairie dogs. :D

I haven't tried CFE223. I have been playing around with Varget, IMR 4320, and H4895 in my M700. Reeds Ammo and Blackhole Bullets are your best bet currently if you are looking for 17 cal heavies. I just got some of the 25 gr VLD and 26 gr VLD bt from Reeds last week but haven't loaded any yet...
