WHY I PREP MY BRASS AND FLASH HOLES

I purchased a few boxes of factory 300 RUM Barnes ammo, and gave a couple of boxes to my buddy. On the first or second shot, there was a loud crack, but the round didn't go off. When he ejected the round, primer pieces fell out. There was no flash hole at all!

How far out will you kill an elk by yourself?

I pay to see it done with an elk! LOL 😆 🤣

If your oldee is recoil getting to you

Definitely get a good brake! I'm closing in on 70, and I can shoot my RUM all day. I'd recommend one from LRCustomsinc.com. It's a very efficient brake. I still have my old 700 BDL in 30-06, unbraked. Less than a box, and I've had enough!

How far out will you kill an elk by yourself?

The three rules of elk hunting: 1. First you have to find them. 2. Then you have to kill them. 3. Then you worry about getting them out. The main thing is, you can't get any of those rules out of order! I'm pushing 70, but I still don't worry about getting them out. Just takes time and a good...

What is the cheapest and best 1000yd range finder?

I doubt it was the snow. Probably the temperature. I had a 2 mile Sig that wouldn't range 400 yards when it got cold. Sig said I was welcome to buy another one. Last Sig I'll ever own!

    Bino Recommendation

Almost all the top end bino manufacturers utilize Schott glass. Guess who owns Schott glass? Zeiss! They all use Zeiss glass. The differences are in the coatings. Zeiss uses coatings to filter out much of the blue spectrum, which the human eye doesn't see well. Swarovski appears warner in the...

    Bino Recommendation

The Zeiss 10x42 Conquest would be my choice for your price range. My recommendation though, would be the Zeiss 10x40 SFL's. They're a magnesium frame and top end glass! However, almost double your budget!

    Bino Recommendation

That's a great price! 10x42 Conquest are $1000.00 bino's, and Zeiss doesn't do many specials. Are they used?

    Matching ELD-M factory ammo

I called Barnes once to ask what the load data was on their 300 RUM Vortex ammo. When flirting with pressure signs, I still couldn't get within 200 fps of their ammo. When I asked what powder the were loading, his immediate answer was "Nothing you or I can buy"!

    Need a few questions answered

For really cheap, you can get a whole bag of rubber glove "fingers" that work perfectly for sealing the muzzle while hunting. Doesn't affect the shot at all. They're like little mini condoms. Humm...wonder if they might fit for that! LOL

Actually, they are in southeast AZ. Willcox area and along the San Pedro, east of San Manuel.

    Ballistic calculator issues

I'm not any kind of a long range target shooter, but I want the best accuracy for hunting to the maximum capability of my cartridge choice. That's where I test for accuracy. In my case, it's 800- 900 yards for my 300 RUM. I use two apps for my ballistic calculations. Ballistics Arc and the Zeiss...

    Shoulder Bump Range... What's Acceptable??

Annealing is your friend on 300 RUM cases. It takes very few firings for the case to become hardened. I anneal, then use a small base die to bump the shoulder. If you're using an expander ball, be sure it's lubed with a good dry lube, so it doesn't pull the shoulder back out as it exits. (I...
