BALLISTICS AE VS APPLIED BALLISTICS (applied seems to be high)

I understand the mechanics and have no doubt these forces contribute to ballistic solutions to some extent. I always believed the effects were minimal. In certain cases according to AB, the effects are brutal. Anyway, even though there is not a designated function to disable ADJ solutions...

BALLISTICS AE VS APPLIED BALLISTICS (applied seems to be high)

Well, I'm still waiting for a stiff wind down here. The highest sustained wind we've had has been around 8 mph. I guess that is a good thing, it's dry as a powder house with temps above 100 F. High winds would scorch this place. Anyway, I haven't forgotten. I will get it done when conditions...

    Have to brag a little

That ain't bad. Be careful now, this game is addictive and can get expensive!!!

BALLISTICS AE VS APPLIED BALLISTICS (applied seems to be high)

I should be able to get it done in the next few days, I just need the conditions too be just right. When we were baling the hay this year we had a couple of days of fairly high steady winds. We couldn't bale in Easterly or Westerly directions because the windrows were getting blown around too...

BALLISTICS AE VS APPLIED BALLISTICS (applied seems to be high)

JD, Your guy seems to be in direct conflict with AB which clearly indicates changes in wind direction can drastically affect vertical drop. It's very clear, winds coming from the left pushes projectiles down and winds coming from the right lifts projectiles up. He also states ADJ is...

BALLISTICS AE VS APPLIED BALLISTICS (applied seems to be high)

In the case of the 6.5-284 I mentioned, in a 10 mph wind at 300 yds there is a difference of .6 mils from 9 to 3, that equates to about 6.5 inches. That folks is not insignificant. Speed the wind up to 20 mph and it gets crazy. Granted, the effects are not this drastic in rounds with high BC...

BALLISTICS AE VS APPLIED BALLISTICS (applied seems to be high)

The 85 grain flat base shot out of a 6.5-284 at 3500 fps is pushed around a bunch according to AB. If I can catch a 20 to 30 mph straight steady wind in the next few days I will see what happens. It's really odd the effects on the 6.5 is nearly double that of a 22-243 52 grain Sierra at...

BALLISTICS AE VS APPLIED BALLISTICS (applied seems to be high)

I have tinkered with the AB and have gotten the G7 drag model to match my proven stepped data out to 1760. I had to use a G7 of .360 to get it all to match. At least now I will not need to keep stepping the G1 BCs anymore, (yippee!) I can set the wind value to zero to negate the ADBS if I...

BALLISTICS AE VS APPLIED BALLISTICS (applied seems to be high)

I have been hitting things a long way off for a very long time with these bad inputs, anyway thanks for the replies.

BALLISTICS AE VS APPLIED BALLISTICS (applied seems to be high)

I really would like to sell it and get one with Atrag. I used one of those for years and really liked it. It was a 4500 NV and developed the infamous battery box problem. I had to tweak the Atrag a little to get it to match the trajectory of my 375-408, the G1 AB required a lot more tweaking...

BALLISTICS AE VS APPLIED BALLISTICS (applied seems to be high)

Do you know if this feature can be turned off in the Elite?

BALLISTICS AE VS APPLIED BALLISTICS (applied seems to be high)

I don't know what the difference would be. There are two versions of Applied Ballistics in the Kestrels, the Sportsman and the Elite. Mine is the Elite. The Elite does have certain functions the Sportsman does not have. I would like to stop this nonsense, if anyone knows how to fix this...

BALLISTICS AE VS APPLIED BALLISTICS (applied seems to be high)

Same scenario my 375-408 shows 16.41 mils with a 9 oclock wind and 14.61 mils with a 3 o'clock wind at 1760 yds.

BALLISTICS AE VS APPLIED BALLISTICS (applied seems to be high)

Here is something funny. 6.5-284, 85 grain at 3500. If I input a 30 mph wind at 9 o clock the solution is 1.58 mils Up. If I simply change the wind direction to 3 o clock the solution changes to .27 mils down. I realize this is an extreme example but the differences are significant even with...

BALLISTICS AE VS APPLIED BALLISTICS (applied seems to be high)

Everything remains the same except wind direction, vertical solutions change according to Applied Ballistics in my Kestrel. This phenomenon is built in to this device and program. The question is was this intended, or do I have something happening that should not be happening. I had a...
